Korg SQ-64 Track 4 MIDI Question

I have a Volca Sample, and you're supposed to be able to switch the MIDI channel in the Global settings on the 64 for each of the separate sub-channels in Track 4, so I can have a different sound play for each in the hand drummer mode. When I switch the channel in Global the sound changes, but for all eight sub-channels at once, not just one. So I can have the kick on all eight channels, or a hihat, or whatever. I must be doing something wrong. I updated to the 2.03 firmware. Any bugs I should be made aware of?

In case anyone's wondering, you have to set the global midi channel to Any, them assigning the sub tracks to different sounds will work. Also, Keyboard Mode works if you have the Record button pressed, so it is lit up red. You don't have to be actually recording, that's Record + Play.
