I almost never check the KVR news page and generally just go straight to the forums so I almost missed this. There's a new Fabfilter update that adds interface scaling amongst many other things.

Now...by "interface scaling" I'm not just talking about the resizing that's been there in most of these plugins for a while, that's still there. All it does is spread out the distance between elements for a more compact or sparse layout. The new "scaling" actually increases the font/icon sizes. Click the arrow in the bottom right to see the scaling menu options.

So you can use a "small" interface size with 150% scaling and get a nice compact layout of elements with larger text and icons. It's great. And they added this to Pro-G and Pro-DS, which I use all the time and hadn't been resizable.

I'm not a huge Fabfilter fanboy or anything (most used by far are Pro-G and Pro-DS), but I do have some others and this goes a long way to improving usability. The latest updates didn't have my favorite GUI's and this definitely is a massive improvement.
So what's new?:
  • Added Apple Silicon support for all AAX plug-ins.
  • All Pro and Creative plug-ins now support interface scaling. The resize button in the bottom right corner of the interface now offers a Scaling submenu, with options to increase or decrease the scale of the entire interface, e.g. 125%, 150%, etc.
  • Reduced CPU spikes on changing oversampling or high quality mode in Pro and Creative plug-ins.
  • Added a right-click shortcut menu for the preset button, with Save and Save As options. In Twin 3, this also lets you mark a preset as favorite.
  • Added support for MIDI program changes in the VST3 plug-ins.
Timeless 3, Volcano 3, Twin 3 and Saturn 2: Added Show Source Flow option, available via the Add Source '+' button menu.
  • Timeless 3, Volcano 3, Twin 3 and Saturn 2: Added Auto-Collapse Sources option, available via the Add Source '+' button menu. When enabled, expanding one source interface will automatically collapse the others (the default behavior). When disabled, multiple source interfaces can be expanded at the same time.
  • Pro-DS and Pro-G: Added support for different interface sizes and Full Screen mode.
  • Pro-G: Added density spectrum visualization in the side chain filter controller, similar to how Pro-DS shows this.
  • Pro-L 2: Added Auto-Reset option for loudness metering, available as a toggle option in the Loudness Time Scale menu. When enabled, loudness metering and clipping will be reset every time playback starts in the DAW.
  • Twin 3: Fixed a bug which caused the main Frequency Offset parameter to be ignored for filters with panning and non-modulated Filter Frequency.
  • Twin 3: Redesigned options icon in the preset browser to make it more discoverable.
  • Volcano 3: Fixed a bug that could cause possible clicks or noise when modulating filter peak values around zero.
  • Volcano 3: Fixed issue where text entry for the peak value in the parameter value display would change frequency when piano display was enabled.
  • Volcano 3: Fixed an issue in the mono version of the plug-in where filters that were removed in the interface could still remain in effect.
  • Twin 3: The Arpeggiator Lock parameter is now always disabled for new instances of the plug-in.
  • Small bug fixes and improvements.

The larger window size and scaling are a welcome addition. Welcome to 2023 FF!

The new interface scaling is truly glorious.

It really makes working with these great plugins a joy (no more squinting, lol!)

I especially appreciate how each plugin can recall separate scaling settings for Full Screen and Windowed mode.

Using these great plugins in Full Screen mode with a scaled up GUI is awesome!!!

Agree. I probably used Timeless, Saturn, and Volcano less than I otherwise would've because of the small UI elements. Particularly Timeless, which was just brutal to use. I'm in my early 40s, don't need glasses, but these GUI's made me think my eyesight was starting to go (maybe it still is). And the useless "drag to make things further apart but nothing but the background bigger" resizing was just frustrating. But the scaling solves that. Now I can have smaller, bigger UI's!

And adding in Pro-G and Pro-DS, which were in need of some GUI love, was unexpected but totally appreciated. Great update, Fabfilter!

Yeah, they're awesome. I love this update. :D

Fabfilter even implemented a couple of my recent suggestions for an Auto-Collapse/Expand Sources option and a Source Flow display/hide option.

Fantastic stuff. Now, users can tweak these amazing plugins exactly to each individual's personal preferences.

It's a game changer. I was not expecting Pro-G with added support for different interface sizes and full screen mode.

It's not just eyesight - it's displaying plug-in GUIs on screens with higher and higher DPIs

And a big +1 for the stepped scaling (125%, 150% etc) rather than the continuous resizing used by some other developers. To me, stepped scaling would use less CPU/GPU (if the sets of images are fixed sizes).

Yeah I also baught Pro-G and Pro-DS this year and was a dissapponted with the GUI - but I needed them and don’t want to wait for a V2 - now they have done the right decision to update the Scale and size.

Yeah man your eyesight is starting to go. It's called aging and none of us can get away from it ;)

I really just think Timeless had a dark, low contrast GUI with tiny buttons. I'm not saying my eyesight is the "better than 20/20" it used to be, but I bet it's still pretty good.
