In my experience foam is 100% useless for bass frequencies. Do not waste money on this kind of stuff.

You are much better off either building your own rockwool corner traps or purchasing real bass traps made by professionals. Build your own if you are on a tight budget, it's not difficult.

Could be depending on use. I've seen stacked such modules around a drum set in a studio. It is their business after all making acoustic treatments.''

Is it better with tube stuff in corners?
Not sure if OP meant general treatment of a room or really bass traps.

I was very pleased with result of Flexibooth and it attenuated acoustic guitar to same level as an electric playing acousticly, not to disturb neighbours. Raise it from floor a bit, like on two chairs, and you have a vocal booth standing up.

I contemplated buying a kind of rockwool(that brand) and sawing cloth around making pillows kind of that I could stack as needed. But Flexibooth cost a third of that solution.

Like I keep saying, it's not effective for bass. You are talking about the general frequency response of highs and mids (and perhaps it's even effective for some mid-lows). If your target is actual bass frequencies (60 - 120 Hz), these will not do it cost effectively.. nor effectively in general, in my experience.

Also, keep in mind that I am _not_ talking about isolation. I'm talking about flattening out the frequency response in a room.

i only chipped on because i have a couple of excellent foam rolls in quite dense black foam - pretty sure they were bolster cushions, good quality, much like the stuff in flightcases, and i was wondering if they'd do as bass traps. about 9" across, 2ft long.

There's no loss in trying. Just set them in corners of the room and measure it before and after. You don't need a specific measurement microphone to see improvements. Heck, if it works well, you'll hear it.

There is amazing free software out there for room measurements (REW - Room EQ Wizard).
