I don't finish many songs nowadays but still like to dabble. Yesterday I decided my latest track might actually be ready to export and import as a new project to master it.
I ended up doing around three or four exports to get a good balance after auditioning each one through Ozone 10, going back and having a fiddle with levels and exporting again.
The point of this post is that after every export of the mix Cubase became unresponsive and then closed down. It would then open with the usual grey screen you get after a bad shutdown.
How can it not handle exporting a mix and is this usual behaviour for Cubase?
Grum.
Cubase Pro crash after export.

post your question to Steinberg forums. The cubase experts are there. I would suggest check what 3rd party plugins you have enebaled and disable unnedded ones Also check patch level of cubase. Make sure its patched. Also, disable anything lurking on master channel inserts and see if that fixes it.

It turns out the export was not the cause of the lockup - the actual track has a problem (and has for a while) but when I shut down the track I'm usually shutting Cubase as well so the lockup isn't noticed until the grey screen on the next boot up.
As I get the grey screen quite often (I have a lot of plugins and haven't sussed the culprit(s) so far - I used to think it was the Reason Rack but I haven't got an instance in this project) I guess I can live with it and not try to do anything in Cubase after saving and just close it and reopen.
I'm running 12.0.52 at the moment as the .6 update made Cubase even more flakey so I rolled back.
I'm quite methodical in keeping things up to date but obviously something I have isn't popular with Cubase!
Thanks for the replies.
