I really don't know why anyone would want this. I suppose that a good reason to want one is that it's likely to increase in value so if you can get one you will probably be able to flip it in a few years. Even if you don't like the B's super small approach, the Korg mid-sized model is more than large enough and much more reasonably priced.

These remind me of the Fender/Gibson vintage guitar re-issues. Ok, I suppose some people like those just for their specific features, but I've seen first hand how they're used to promote FOMO. It's all too cringe for me.

Yea, they have been promoting this for a while now and I can't say I get it, but I am a little biased with Behringer's 2600.
If you want to impress your friends there are plenty of Moog Ones or Steinway grand pianos around so I suspect this is part of a package deal they made with the guy from ARP USA to re-release a series of 1970's synths.

It's the appeal of a Minimoog or a Prophet 5 reissue when more modern options exist- the big perfect physical interface (and because you have excess funds to fund your desires).

The 2600 M occupies a weirder space - almost 4X the cost of the Behringer but only appreciably better in having built in speakers. For $2k the build quality is janky and you'd need a couple of Eurorack modules (plus a case) to match what the Behringer has built in or this has in the 3620 keyboard.

Funnily enough, "US-only" was some kind of weird marketing ploy. We got some (albeit in limited numbers) here in Australia.

I bought one. It's absolutely glorious. I also have a Bword 2600. It's a nice unit, the "mods" are welcome additions for sure, although those little sliders and weird layout are lacklustre.

In the end patching and playing the full size is a whole other experience. You get it when you touch it in person, haptics rule.

And the sound, my gods. On another level.

I'll stick to my behringer 2600, which has osc sync on oscs 2 and 3 and some other nice extras. For under 1/10th the cost.

Glad you like the Bword, it's a good sounding synth, I have enjoyed my time with it

I actually never use osc sync, can't stand the sound of it so I don't miss it.

The 2600 (including the Bword "version") is a product of its time; definitely benefits from some additional LFOs and VCAs if you want tot get into deep patching. Happily I had this Plankton Electronics Ants sitting around unused, which is the perfect companion - adds a whole bunch of functionality and matches the colourway

Oh, sure if I had a lot more room and unlimited money, I would own both the US version and the one I have just for the dedicated keyboard/aesthetic. The US built thing is only meaningful in reference to the past ARP being made in the Northeast USA (I saw the documentary and can't remember the state). I don't use mine enough because every time I do I am happy with the result but then I am not using it in the traditional way anyway.
