Has anybody used a midi controller with the X/Y controls in Zebra 2?

I haven’t recently seen a midi controller with 4 x/y type controllers, so just curious is there are and recommendations - or - it anybody has mapped 2 encoders in tandem, or something like that?

The screenshot is from linux Reaper with linux Hive2, and shows Hive 2 mappings moved by the two joysticks (4 settings on each) on a Logitech game pad. A lot of Hive presets have eight mappings like that example. Of a dozen Zebra2 Legacy sounds I checked, most had the first x-y controller mapped and useable by the gamepad. I'll check the other few thousand sounds in a minute. :scared:

Reaper has joystick midi support in it's midi device prefs, and there are three scripts to choose from, I think composed in LUA, and not too difficult to modify. My Logitech device is mounted in front of my midi controller's E2, so easy to use either left or right joystick with the left hand. There are eight buttons that trigger notes in the default generic script, which should be cc friendly to do other tasks.
Cheers

I use an Android tablet with the TouchOSC app.

This is something I've wondered about, too. Some multiple-axis MIDI controller options I've run across that seem suitable:
  • Yaeltex's beautiful (and eye-wateringly expensive) community-designed XYZ MIDI controller: https://yaeltex.com/product/xyz/

  • A much cheaper hardware alternative would be the Korg nanoPad, which has a single XY touch controller, and it can switch between multiple "scenes" that can each be configured to control different CCs.

  • A similarly cheap option that can simultaneously control x2-4x more axes (but with a less X/Y interface) is the Korg nanoKontrol, using each fader (and/or knob) as an independent axis.

  • AudioSwift (Mac only) can partition a macbook trackpad into independent XY pads: viewtopic.php?p=8573285#p8573285
  • Fannon's TouchOSC x4 X/Y controller was last updated to support both tablet and phone: viewtopic.php?p=8596827#p8596827 (requires the TouchOSC app) Image
