Hello,
I've installed NeuronVS without any problem and now I'd like to run it on my Macbook Pro (2012, Catalina installed).
Problem is NeuronVS is VST 2.1 and Reaper and I suppose most of the DAWs are accepting VST 2.4 and upper.
I would like to now if there is any VST HOST running VST 2.1 I could use on my Mac.
Thanks

IIRC, NeuronVS is 32-bit only and you'll need a bridge program to run it on 64-bit only Catalina. I'm not sure you'll run into issues with 2.1 vs 2.4, per se, but it will depend on how the plugin was written. There are a few deprecated calls in 2.4, as well as current calls, that hosts do not implement.
Also, IIRC, I tried running it yonks ago and was not able to do so on Mavericks 10.9. I think it looked for the hardware.
Sorry I can't be more helpful here, but I'm dredging up the vaguest of vague memories.

I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better?

Hey thanks for taking time to answer. Indeed it seems to be very difficult to run 32-bit only plug-ins on Catalina, maybe I should check in the VM solutions or installing an version of macOS supporting 32-bits applications on an external hard drive.

For VM, you need Snow Leopard Server, which you can still find at archive.org.alouest wrote: Mon May 29, 2023 4:55 pm Hey thanks for taking time to answer. I'd check the VST bundle to see if it's PPC, Intel, or universal. I don't recall anymore, but if it's PPC only, you might have to go with an old PowerBook G4.
Anyway, I finally gave up on trying to run it since the graphics were glitchy when I first got it open and I couldn't get any sound from it. It's just one of those programs that has very specific requirements.

Its impossible to run 32-bit code in Catalina, but you should have known this… Mojave would be the one to stick to for quite a while… The advantage of a VM, is that it would run along Catalina and you could try to send Midi/Audio between them… Catalina is dated as well now…alouest wrote: Mon May 29, 2023 4:55 pm Hey thanks for taking time to answer.
