I have a budget of up to 2K for a new 2.1 set up for mixing.
So far I found this which looks pretty good. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail ... -subwoofer
But any other suggestions or warnings against going with this?

It is a good choice, but I have an alternative suggestion to save money. I do not think you need an introduction to this one.ATS wrote: Thu May 25, 2023 4:33 am I have a budget of up to 2K for a new 2.1 set up for mixing.

Thank you. Have looked at those too. The only problem is the speakers are pretty darn big for my desk. Maybe can make it work.

That is why you get monitor stands as well, something like the Ultimate Support MS-90/36B.ATS wrote: Fri May 26, 2023 12:39 am Thank you. Have looked at those too. The only problem is the speakers are pretty darn big for my desk. Maybe can make it work.

Love my JBLs regret not getting the sub at the time as its been twice the price since and I've missed any sales if there were any. Not sure where they stand against other monitors they are the only ones I've ever had but now price checking they are half the price of comparable sets so there's probably something I don't understand.

yeah I wish that was possible for me. My desk is right up against the wall and nowhere else I can put it.

4" drivers are rough, even when adding a sub. If you can fit the 5" (which is tiny) on your desk, it'll probably be a nicer crossover to the sub.ATS wrote: Thu May 25, 2023 4:33 am I have a budget of up to 2K for a new 2.1 set up for mixing.

I was really blown away by the Reproducer Audio Labs monitors. The Epic 5's are tiny and sound huge. Probably the nicest micro speakers I've heard. The 4's were also good but not as impressive and the size difference wasn't meaningful:

Thanks you all! Will look into your recommendation Uncle E. Appreciate the advice about 4" drivers as well.

I dunno, I prefer the sound of the Eris 3.5 over the Eris 5, which aren't very strong in the mid range, and my 3" Genelecs sound way better than both. I wouldn't dismiss smaller drivers out of hand.

Check out the Genelec 8030C & 7040A sub

I've had a Genelec 2-1 system for more than 25 years. They seem to be bulletproof.
