hi guys, i try to replace (not actively) replace some plugins from WAVES which are possible, and i recently read about THE GLUE. is it in your opinion a good replacement to the WAVES one? i always like to use the WAVES SSL Plugin on my master (i saw many people do it) and just let it work a tiny bit.
thanks

The Glue is one of the best SSL bus compressors on the market. You can also get it directly from SSL, the official SSL Bus Compressor plugin. Anyways, if you like the one you're using, keep using it, as they did bring back perpetual licenses.

The actual SSL one sounds great and is on sale quite often. I think I got the "Essentials Bundle", which is the channel strip and bus comp, for like $50 and it was just recently on sale for that again. Actually, I bought v1 of it, and SSL gave everyone a free upgrade when v2 came out.
Been using Softube's Bus Compressor instead lately though. Instead of needing the SSL and another saturation plugin of some sort, the Bus Compressor does both.

I find the Waves version to sound pretty good but it has less "vibe" as The Glue. I use Waves if I want a subtle glue-ing and The Glue for a "fuller" sound, for lack of a better way to put it. The Glue could replace Waves but they its useful to have both as they do sound slightly different within the same realm of glue-ing.

Try the Townhouse compressor from PA. It's much better than both Waves and The Glue. The Glue compresses great, but it's very sterile sounding as it doesn't offer any saturation. Townhouse will give you that "like a record" sound just like with a real SSL comp.
