I think somebody should start a DRM-free plugin store, something like gog.com. Perhaps it might not be feasible for selling latest, hot releases, but for stuff older than, say, two years, why not?

It will have a "nice" selection.
On GOG, most games release months/years after the initial release, when the publishers decide that it doesn't harm the initial sales anymore when they release DRM-free. Or, they don't release there at all.
And, the games industry isn't the audio software industry. You will never be able to convince a considerable amount of developers to release DRM free.
You might as well just use the existing sites which offer freeware.
