I'm looking for a relatively inexpensive keyboard to use to compose a play a bit, typically sitting temporarily on my desk, & mostly into Ableton & Reaper (no performing) and really like some of the MKIII - generation stuff (usually 49 key). I searched a bit here, but most of the stuff is from before the MKIII models were out.

I've mainly been looking at the Novation Launchkey, Arturia Keylab Essential (Arturia's Analog Lab V looks interesting, but I think it's just a gateway to purchase sounds... it says "From a full copy of Analog Lab to a library of over 4 million samples" but I don't know what that means), Oxygen Pro 49. A little bit at the Komplete Kontrol stuff, it's cool, but doesn't have pads & I don't use any NI stuff.* Obviously each has pros & cons, but I haven't bought a keyboard in like 20 years so figured it would be helpful to ask.

So.. Any experience/advice from people who've used any/all of these with Ableton / Reaper is really appreciated. I know it's in the lower-budget range but I don't play much & don't need anything too complex.

thanks!

*I have their 25-year-old FM7 but, understandably, it doesn't work any more :(
I don't like country music, but I don't mean to denigrate those who do. And for the people who like country music, denigrate means 'put down'.

I have a spare FM7 to FM8 upgrade. I have no use for it, so you can have it free. PM me if you want it.

I just got the Nektar 49+ that I'm using with Reaper and so far I'm very happy with it. Weighted keys. Lots of controller options.
