This was posted back in March. Thoughts?
So, for years you guys have been urging us to build one of the most sought after synth. We managed to resist for a long time, but we finally gave in;-)
Here is the fully working prototype of our Neptune-80, an 8-voice polyphonic synth with original analog matrix, BBD chorus and modern user interface such as LCD Display, USB/Midi etc.
We modeled it after the best sounding 6/60 version and we absolutely love the sound.
Our product engineer Ben (a synth fanatic himself) couldn’t stop playing the Neptune, but we luckily managed to pull it out of his hands and get it in front of our camera. Sorry Ben:-)
What do you think?

Right?! Last week I saw a guitar with SIX strings! Yes, SIX F’ING STRINGS that can be played simultaneously! I don’t wanna live in a world with this much harmony. :help:
Logic Pro | LUNA Pro | OB-X8 | Prophet 6 | OB-6 | Rev2 | TEO-5 | Pro 3 | SE-1X | Minitaur | Deepmind 12D | Slim Phatty | TR-1000 | Analog RYTM mk2 | Digitakt 2 | TD-3 MO | TD-3 | Maschine+

exactly, we already have enough guitarists playing chords

i just want them to get a particular mono out of the door. ;)
i see anything else they do as a distraction from this goal.

Proton?

Anyway, back OT, Neptune doesn’t interest me, but I’m betting Behringer will have a very hard time keeping production up with demand once it’s released.

Well, I have the DeepMind 12D and System 8, so this is going to be another miss, but for those who need some Roland love, this will be perfect.

I wish that they would stop tackling the simple synths from the era and tackle something more substantial.

The Dm12 was such a nice design and value proposition after it this feels too repetitive.

Yes, they are quite predictable- almost like they're a company used to making mixers and don't have an R&D department.

It's missing an octave of keys. Otherwise I find it interesting.

Irritating that they're sticking with the single oscillator on this and the Polyeight. A second oscillator wouldn't even have to be fully capable, just give it an Osc 2 on/off button and a detune, make it mimic the first oscillator.

The purpose is to make a 1:1 copy, if i understand correctly.

I vaguely remember this at the time but it seemed to go very quiet after. Not sure if it wasn't just Behringer pulling everyone's plonker? For me it's a big no, but I imagine these would be mega popular if they do release and it'll break the musical internet while everyone waits 2 years for them to ship. It's a better bet than the PolyEight IMO but still a crappy Juno. I used to adore my Juno back in the day...but I grew up eventually (and could afford decent synths) :( .
