That's great! There seem to be quite some good sounding ones.

Time for some chopping soon it seems.

Thanks!

Where's the samples?

Click on my first link, and when this side pops up click on one of the cymbal names. Try "Byzance", and there you have four options named: Regular Finish,Brilliant Finish,Dark Finish and Dry Finish.
Click on one of them and you are there. Left click on the speaker icons to listen or right click to save as...

There you go! :)

The Zildjian site actually offers pretty much high quality MP3s (Meinl's only are in 128kbps). And tons of those too!
Just some bit of a chopping job - but it seems pretty much worth the time.

It IS worth the time.

And your right about the quality on the Zildjian site.
They use a higher bitrate, importent when it is cymbals that has much high freq. content.

I have used the Zildjia cymbals in many recordings now and they really blend exellent with everything because they just sound right.

I downloaded some of the zidja cymbals last night. However I am unsure as to the legality of using these samples. I wanted to e-mail the company and find out what their policy is on using these samples as there is no mention of copyright/royalties/permissions on the download pages.

Unfortunetly I can't find an e-mail address?
has anyone else managed to check this out?
or does anyone have a contact e-mail address for the company, so I can e-mail them?

Ben... in case they put those samples online, available for everybody, I doubt there even *could* be legal issues.
Better don't wake them sleeping dogs!
I mean, hey, unless they really are drummers (uhm, perhaps they are indeed...) they should know about modern techniques such as sampling.

I dunno, the fact that there's no copyright information on the donwload pages makes me think that either:

- they don't care about people using the samples, in which case I'm sure a confirmation by e-mail will be fine.

- they were ignorant about people downloading the samples for use in their own songs. In which case I'm not sure I want to use the samples and feel obliged to point this out to them.

I'm probably being over cautious and worrying about this too much.. But I don't like gaining on other people's ignorance, as I wouldn't like someone to do the same to me. (i'd never make a hustler...;) ) Admitidly by pointing this out to them, they might ask us not to use the samples... which in my opinion is fair enough, and I won't use them. I just like to give people the same respect that I hope they'd give me. Especially as I am trying to run a sample site.

There is a phone number for there US headquarters... would someone in the states be willing to give them a call?

Sounds a bit unlikely that they'd want the samples to be used in this way. A bit like going to a beer festival, getting drunk on the merchandise and never buying anything :hihi:

But be my guest, phone them and ask. You really should get permission from them before distributing work containing those samples. :)

Well, yes, to an extent :hihi:

Giving away freebies is about spreading the word about your product too...

For example, Celinder provide mp3s of Scarbee J'Slap'n'Fingered, which was sampled from their J-Bass. Sometimes people just like to popularise their sound. I'm dubious about this case, but we'll see.

The only thing that will come from your meddling is that
