I guess it's just down to how a company wants to market something, but...
...is this really what people would call a Baritone guitar?

30" scale, recommended tuning e-e, strings 24-84... isn't that more short scale bass/fender VI territory..?

Not that it matters, just caught my eye (the spec not the guitar, not a looker IMHO) and was curious.

Cheers.

Yeah, 24-84 is Bass VI gauge. Mine has these on it;

Think you'd be buggered trying to tune it up to A or B. :hihi:

With those strings I would call it a bass VI.

The same scale length with 014-068 strings and tuned b-b would be a baritone. That is how my Danelectro Longhorn baritone was set up when I got it. Although these days I keep it tuned down to a-a.

When I played baritone guitar I meant a fourth or a fifth lower that standard tuning, so not what that they say there.

Ack, brace it with a scaffold pole and it would fine.

Exactly what I was curious about, e-e with that scale/strings would be an octave down, not trad baritone 4th or 5ths down. Thanks.

Why can't there be a 12 string Bass VI, with the second set of strings a guitar set. Can't see as it would be any problem with tension.. :hihi:

It’s funny that there’s no name for the type of instrument a Bass VI other than “bass VI.” Schecter got around it by just calling their model Hellcat VI. Of course that doesn’t tell you that it’s a bass…

If only it were that easy!

Nowadays most people think of a 6 string bass as tuned B0 to C3 rather than E-E like a VI. And the 6-string has string spacing more like a standard 4 string bass. So VI is kind of a bass/bari hybrid.

“6-string bassitone”? ;)

BTW I don't now you but for me the thicker the strings the larger must be the fretboard, that's t why I prefer a "soprano" bass-guitar to a baritone guitar. Anyway today I stick to a jazzy semi-acoustic with large fretboard, this guitar can stand high tensions so I can use wide open tunings , selecting string gauges as they need to be.
