I think it can be anywhere where you can focus on your creative endeavours. Traditionally it would be a dedicated space (certainly for music with all the equiment that entailed) but nowadays you can be pretty creative with just a laptop. It's more about the way you have things mentally organised, your software choices, working methods etc that define your 'studio'.
Obviously a dedicated space is still preferable and essential if you have any amount of outboard, record vocals, instruments etc.

a studio to me is what my musical heroes used to record
their songs
it's where people like george martin produced songs of
bands like the beatles
in my bedroom is amateur me
to produce my shitty amateur songs
but me don't do that cos my songs are amateurish
and not worth producing or releasing yet
studios got mixing consoles or boards
i got reaper
studios got music instruments
i got virtual studio instruments/effects (10,000+ vst freeware)
i got real instruments too (cheap guitar, bass, drum machine, etc)
i'm in my "studio" while i play speed scrabble
in between games and during slow opponent's turns
i "noodle" in my studio, which is really mainly just reaper

The actual space is a spare bedroom with both our desks in it -- a sort of home office / studio / hangout area in general.
I use the same setup for working from home, entertainment, and making music. A vertical stack of two ultra-widescreen monitors, synths are all in arms' reach, basses are stored in cases under the desk.
The acoustics are shit and it's noisy, so I use headphones for everything musical.

A place where I focus on developing my music proficiency. It shifts between my bedroom and the spare dining room in my household depending on the local temperature. My music setup is designed to be portable, so I just move them around whenever I need to. It is more like a "stage" at this point.

A corner of our livingroom. I'm not delusional enough to call it a 'studio.' It's my 'recording space.'

I don't (say I have a studio).
Some of my best work was done when I basically lived in a Peet's Coffee (that opened at 5:30 AM alright), the shitty piped-in music and steam machines, crowd clatter and all. On a far-under spec MBP at the end ot its life.
the closest I had was during the middle of the Covid19 shutdown, I had a little money and holed up in a nice hotel room. with a nice desk made out of wood. I had an audio interface and evvythang.

A room in my basement set apart for music production. Some live instruments, guitar, bass, melodica, percussion, drum machine & synths. Definitely an amateur studio, works for me.

To me, a studio is any area where you have a setup that allows you to do your music or visual art. That can be a bedroom, corner of a bedroom, garage, really anywhere. For years it just meant my bedroom. I was lucky to have a spare bedroom set up to work in at our old house, but gave it up when a house guest came and made herself a bit more “at home” than had been planned. I just moved my setup to an area of our dining room, which was huge and still gave us a large dining room. Had I owned the place, I would have just constructed a wall and made it its own room. It ended up working out fine, and I actually had a bit more space because I no longer had to share it with a bed.
Now we do own our place (well, as much as most people do, the bank owns it and we pay them a chunk every month) and I let my wife have the spare bedroom because due to Covid she needed a place where she could close the door and have meetings. Lots of meetings. My job was only visual art at that time, so I took this… roomish thing that lives off our bedroom. Hard to describe it, but our bedroom basically has a smaller bedroom attached to it. It’s actually a perfect size for my setup, but has only three proper walls. The fourth wall is open and overlooks the main floor’s dining room. That just became a problem, because now my work is mostly audio design, and I got tasked to do voice acting and that room is very live and echoey. I figured they’d reject my recordings as “scratch tracks” and we’d replace them with a real voice actor, but as it turns out, I do a very good cartoonish mob guy voice. I guess growing up in NJ did have a silver lining.
So now I have to further “studioize” that room. I had tacked up blankets for my scratch tracks, and it worked pretty well, but now I’ll have to put up some proper room treatments, maybe curtains, and a mic reflection filter. I’ve also got a few synthesizers up for sale so I can get my graphics rig set up in the same room and have a space where I can easily switch between my audio duties and visual duties. (I need a separate computer graphics work computer for security concerns)
