I have, I think, a pretty robust MacBook Pro, where I host Ableton for live performance and production. I'm hooking up various tools to I: SSl 2+ interface, Arturia Keylab controller, plus three Roland Boutiques.
My Mac only has USB-c connectors, so I'm using pretty generic USB hubs, but I believe that I would get better performance (less glitchy) if I had a powered, high quality Hub. So, looking for recommendations.

They're pricey, but you asked for top quality: as far as I'm aware you can't get anything more solid than a CalDigit for Mac. Mine's never missed a beat.

If you're talking about USB 2.0, Cables Unlimited made a high quality USB hub that has been bullet proof for me over the years and can be purchased for almost nothing.

You may have issues finding a good one, a dock may be better if there's an official one

You'll want a hub with MTT support. Elektron's Overhub is one (spendy) option. It has a micro-b usb connector so you would need either a usb-a to usb-c adapter for the included cable or perhaps replace the included cable with a good quality micro-b to usb-c one. You can also get micro-b to usb-c adapters to use it with a usb-c cable you already have.

Sorry for the off topic:
I plan to use a hub on a tablet. If I connect a USB power only cable to the hub will it keep the tablet charged?
