Bringing Bethesda's epic space game STARFIELD to life took years of hard work and abundant creativity. For the sound team, it required a 'divide and conquer' approach that allowed each sound designer an opportunity to touch every sonic aspect of the game.
Here, the STARFIELD audio team talks about designing ambiences, weapons, creatures, ships, character foley, and so much more. Plus, they talk about the technical challenges they faced – like transitioning away from using proprietary audio tools to using middleware halfway through the project.
The interview features Mark Lampert (Audio Director), Casey Coffman (Senior Sound Designer), Dave Schreiber (Senior Sound Designer), Frédéric Tardif (Senior Sound Designer), Jerry Schroeder (Senior Sound Designer), Cazz Cerkez (Sound Designer), and Richard Evans (Sound Designer).
