I purchased the SX3 upgrade it has so many bugs im back to using SX2.2 for now until an update sorts out the bugs anyway that isn't why im here...
I have a desktop PC at my home and i spend a lot of time at my girlfriends house so ive ordered a powerful laptop computer which i will leave at my girlfriends so i can work on tracks there too , The problem is only having one Dongle always having to make sure i have it with me.I phoned Arbiter/steinberg sales today to see if there was some way of getting a second dongle but i was told that the Dongle is my licence and the only way of getting another one is to buy cubase again...
Its just so Bloody annoying....crap dongles.....

I'm sorry to hear that...I abandoned CubaseSX after version one and am a very happy Sonar user...The dongle was definitely one of the many reasons I dumped SX...

Me too, because I'm another laptop user. Dongles and laptops...not a good idea!
I now use a combination of Tracktion (for simple stuff and teaching purposes), Live 4 (great for MIDI sequencing now, as well as its looping) and Adobe Audition (which I use for all pro-quality audio recording, editing and mastering).
I didn't just desert Cubase because of the dongle, mind you (although that was quite a significant factor). Ultimately I just got fed up of it, and stopped finding it at all creative or inspiring a tool to use.

I wonder why they must have the dongle system. As I understand it Sonar just use a serial.
Everything gets cracked sooner or later anyway, so why make it difficult for the paying user?

i love cubase SX2, but the dongle sucks indeed. especially on the laptop! and it's totally useless... anyone who wants a cracked copy will find it pretty soon and will get a better (dongle-less) product!

HI
Its probably not good for the dongle or the usb socket to keep switching every 5 minutes, I would rather they said £50 (arbitrary figure that springs to mind) for an extra dongle, not the best solution but at least they earn a bit from it and the owner is happy (ish)
.
Thats a thought, can you sell SX, and in which case how does the dongle fit into things, will it basically work on any computer that has 'your' copy of SX installed on?

just to clear something the following products have not been cracked
halion 3, sx 3, hypersonic 1.1, culture 1.5 or any other yellow tools product, logic 7
the common reason for this - they all use dongles
this is the reason for it - but what are the millions of bugs in sx3 - mine is absolutely fine - OK a few odd things happen when using the in-place editor - but i never use that anyhoo

when i start a project in SX3 then save it when i click on it to open it again it opens in SX2.2 instead , so i tried unistalling sx2.2 and things just went haywire vst's not connected etc thats only the start read about the mass of bugs hereericj23 wrote:just to clear something the following products have not been cracked

www.cubase.net
or read the latest review in novembers computer music magazine about all the bugs in the midi device editor....
If your only scrapeing the surface of cubase then you won't find them

HI
Hmm - I think I'll scrape the surface - F... that for a laugh.
Saying that I never found a bug in Logic on the PC, but I tend to just use midi, some automation and a sprinkle of audio, I don't like to do autopsies on host's - the prognosis is inevitable - they stink.

eh - i resent the notion im only scraping the surface of sx 3 - and i deleted sx 2.2 just fine - and all my old files open just fine - well except i dont have some of the plugs installed anymore- but the nice dummy plug-in is just great
as for the bugs at cubase.net - ive not heard of a showstopper yet - and a few couldnt be reproduced on my set-up
as for the midi device editor - ive not used it because i have no need to so I'm sorry for missing that one

HI
Hate to sound like a moaner 'Kagemusha' but aren't you moaning about the moaners
?
Just an observation - I have no preference one way or the other; I am happy to moan and only slightly more happier to not moan - and just be critical, but I am exceedingly content when I am neither moaning nor being overly excitable; that just leads to unrestrained happiness - which causes others to moan.

Isn't SX2 cracked, it uses a dongle? How long do you think it takes before SX3 is cracked?ericj23 wrote:just to clear something the following products have not been cracked
