I had a LeSound subscription which was cancelled by Gobbler today ... Visiting the LeSound website, there's a message in front of a big red background: "LeSound is closing permanentely. There will be no more support. Any lifetime iLok key or not-iLok Key should still work as usual." Does somebody know more about that? Will the products really completely be discontinued? No other company picking them up ...?!

No, I know nothing about it, but I would assume based on your post that exactly what they said is going to happen is going to happen. Bummer, but making it in the plugin game is challenging with the big guys in a constant race to the bottom on prices and fewer and fewer of the people buying plugins making any money with them.

I also contacted Gobbler in this matter, and they replied with the following statement: "From what we heard from Le Sound, their technology has been acquired by a developer, but not the brand. So it appears that Le Sound will come back in the future, but under a different name." Let's see, what will happen ...

I like sort of knew they had done something under the table. I tried to ask them, and they just said it was being released later. Yeah bullshit, as if they had any intention. This had been going on for...way...too...long. So they basically lied to me. Because I hate liars, I doubt I'd ever have much to do with them, even if they do resurface again. Lying is something I cannot abide, dishonesty never got anyone anywhere with me. If they'd just been honest and said they were moving on and that someone had bought them out, I'd respect them, but they lied to me through private email, so I'm going to ditch them. You can't lie to potential customers because that's how you lose them. In this case it's likely forever. They won't get my business.
They have this now online:
https://www.lesound.io/
"LeSound reboot in progress..
More news soon"
Yep, as if I'm going to f**king believe THAT?
I doubt they have any credibility now, they've surely blown theirs in my eyes. I won't be doing business with people who lie.

Nothing will happen. Why the hell would they stop selling their plugins, if they simply licensed the tech to another developer?Ear01 wrote: Fri Nov 03, 2023 10:06 am So it appears that Le Sound will come back in the future, but under a different name." Let's see, what will happen ...
Nope, they got bought out, and are now in damage control, to save face. Much like a lot of others who get bought out, keep it all under wraps, LIE to people about shit, and then expect people to want to buy their shit after being lied to?
If they'd just said "Hey dude, unfortunately we've been bought out and no, our plugins are no longer available." I'd just like...f**king move on...but they strung me along, and I absolutely despise people who do that.
I will absolutely NOT be buying their plugins, not that they would be available anyway. They got bought out, right, they can't use their shit in their plugins anymore, now, can they?
What do they have to offer me now? Nothing? Sounds about right. I want natural sounds and these were absolutely TOP of the line...but nope, they got bought out, likely by a video game or movie mob.
Nope, dude, no one will be seeing anything useful from them, because the tech is now sold off, and anything they release will likely be gutted and cut down, with the good stuff being reserved for whoever they sold it to, for their pursuit. If they release anything, it won't be anything like what they had been offering. It will be different. It might even be based on samples.
I'm not sure if this is also what happened to many other VIs that were under development but then kept stalling and stalling, even though I doubt these developers would ever sell off a prized crown asset like that, no one knows, and you can never be sure what happened. It's just taken way, way, too long since MODO BASS came out, and I'm starting to get suspicious that something similar has happened to MODO GUITAR, and consequently it went POOF. Or perhaps they simply abandoned it. Neither of those two things would surprise me. I know how business works and I'm intimately knowledgable about what goes on behind closed doors that no one here will ever understand or realise.
These are two things I know. 1/ Businesses don't have to justify or explain anything to you or I, and 2/ They are in business to make money, and whilst they do truly care about their customers, if some groundbreaking deal comes through, you can be sure they will take the deal, and the customers can just keep playing guessing games.
