You can be creative in any right place on Earth, and not only in the wealthiest cities. Bring the world feelings from everywhere, and not only feelings of capitalistic or jail environment.

The best sounding for me is the IK stuff. But Christ is it heavy on CPU.

I find Cymatics Origin (which is free) gives all the vibe I need for various lo-fi effects.

I'm only going to talk "Studio quality tape plugins" and leave out any lo-fi style stuff. But for me, the king is still the IK Tape Collection. I just wish it had adjustable noise (there's no noise at all - a little goes a long way in tape sims IMO). After that, maybe Satin. The Slate one is still decent. Taupe by Acoustica is good but also lacks noise.
Really still haven't found that killer tape plugin outside of the IK offerings.

Just add a layer of pink noise with 50-60 dB. That'll do the trick.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Sun Nov 12, 2023 3:24 pm I'm only going to talk "Studio quality tape plugins" and leave out any lo-fi style stuff. YAYYY, my fav plugin type.
Ok so i tried a lot, when i want to go vintage i use tape plugins with band pass filters to sound very old.
The best - NEOLD WARBLE, i just love the saturation on that thing with combination of the wow and a little bit of flutter effect, also the knob age and low and high pass filters you can shape the sound to be very vintage, the best tape emulator i tried.
Not so good - noise section is static white noise and there is no dropouts.
Second place - Aberrant DSP SketchCassette II, i love this thing, the saturation is delicious and there is dropouts that you can set exactly as you want, you can go real BOC with that one.
i tired a lot more but i dont ever remember their names, tape pro or something, whatever, those two are all i need anyway

Aberrant DSP SketchCassette II and IK Multimedia Tascam 388. Those are my most used this year.
Honorable mention also to UA Oxide Tape which I'm seeing myself using more and more.
