Black Friday is here, I haven't yet broken a sweat! What am I missing?

Yeah yeah yeah, deals lists and pages everywhere, including here. But there are way too many soundsets and soundspot forgetables. What are the best deals today. I bit on arturia's fx crossgrade offer just to get the M12 filter and the Granular toy, everything else is a bonus.
Other than some stupidly overpriced hardware which wasn't really on a Black Friday sale, that's it. Surely there's something really hot? NI, ugh, yeah, there's a few things in Komplete 14 standard, but not Guitar Rig 7, I'll wait for 15. Arturia's synth collection, I'm still on 6, I haven't seen anything in the last three updates that excite me.
Watcha got?

Xenoverb and an extension to my Bitwig license.
Not really a Black Friday thing but I also got the TE KO-II.
Saw some discounts on stuff I already bought this year. Oh well
There's a good crossgrade price on the Arturia V Collection, but I skipped it. I don't need more classic or workhorse synths, I'm only interested in weird, unique things at this point.

I don't have em all, but I don't really want them all either. Love Uhe, but since the big return to hardware, softsynths are not a priority. I'm sure the FX are great, but I have to be that guy and say I don't care that much. I have so many compressors and reverbs etc etc, that I just don't get excited much anymore unless there's something really unique in terms of sound or or workflow.SHall1000 wrote: Fri Nov 24, 2023 11:54 pm U-he’s rare/unheard of 50% seems to have caused the most excitement. I'm pretty sure that I have Xenoverb. Equally sure that it's never made it onto a project. Not because I don't like it, but computers change, things get lost, I have a bazillion reverbs.
I have revived my Quadraverb II in the rack, it's getting some use.
I'm on the razor's edge with this one. Looks ok, but also looks so TE. Tell us how you get on with it.Not really a Black Friday thing but I also got the TE KO-II.

Likewise. I picked up Diva, Repro and Hive in the NI sales and have been tempted Bazille but I’m not feeling it I have to many choices already and not really the time to use them. I’m also skipping various bundle upgrades this time for the same reason. Maybe I’m over my completist problemghettosynth wrote: Sat Nov 25, 2023 12:05 amI don't have em all, but I don't really want them all either. When I was demoing it, a couple of the algorithms happened to grab me. Mostly not notable otherwise, or else a bit too far on the infinite ambient thing, it's definitely going to be another for the "just once in a while" category.ghettosynth wrote: Sat Nov 25, 2023 12:09 am I'm pretty sure that I have Xenoverb. Honestly if the ValhallaRoom update had happened a day or two earlier, that would probably would have sated my taste for reverbs for a good while... love that Space parameter.

I took the 50 Euro upgrade to Kontakt 7, just for the new Orchestra sounds.
They are for sure worth it.
And I took the low price for Waveform, the new version.
This time I have the feeling, that it has a very stable core and it works fantastic. Worth the money, really.

Yeah, it's rare that I'm unwilling to pay for a Kontakt upgrade, but I have to be honest about how much I've used it over the last year and how likely it is that I will need to have something other than Kontakt 6 before the next $99 upgrade price comes around. Hopefully, by that time, GR7 will be a part of Kompolete. There are only two other products in the bundle that interest me that I don't have and that's Ozone 10 and Noire. The former I have an older version of, and the latter, cool as it is, it's not like I don't have a huge library of piano sounds and reverbs.classic wrote: Sat Nov 25, 2023 5:43 pm I took the 50 Euro upgrade to Kontakt 7, just for the new Orchestra sounds.

I do occasionally use orchestral sounds in an experimental manner, but it's not my bread and butter.

Yes, to be clear, I also liked it and was chomping at the bit for a while waiting for a sale. I just forget all of the things that I've purchased. I think that if I wrote one track for each reverb I own I would have to complete about six or seven full albums before I made it back to the start of the list. Ok, not really a valid thought process, but at some point I just find that even the thought of thinking about all the software that I own becomes a distraction.foosnark wrote: Sat Nov 25, 2023 4:24 pmWhen I was demoing it, a couple of the algorithms happened to grab me. Of course, full disclosure, I did pre-order the Live update, but since I'm not paying for it until spring, I don't think that it counts.

So far I'm in a similar boat. I haven't purchased anything yet, but the most likely is Arturia's upgrade to FX collection 4, for the granular delay etc.
I get tempted by the UA collection for $49, but nothing stands out because I have other developers versions of all the devices in the collection really. Yes, if you own a studio UA are fantastic, but I find the big name plugins aren't really any better than the others, with a few exceptions.
I'm going to pre-order Live 12, so that gets in the way of the sale on Sononym, since it's very possible that Live's AI browser could be my default browser now even when using the MPC or Digital Performer. I'll probably bite on it though, since at $49 it's less than dinner for two where I live.

No, they sound good. their GUIs are dated and sometimes unreadable, but the actual sound is great. I have their entire collection and I reach for it often enough.Bombadil wrote: Sat Nov 25, 2023 8:29 pm I may get Soundtoys Tremulator. Any reason to avoid Soundtoys?

Wouldn't it be hilarious if the M12 filter is a freebie this Christmas?ghettosynth wrote: Fri Nov 24, 2023 10:12 pm I bit on arturia's fx crossgrade offer just to get the M12 filter and the Granular toy, everything else is a bonus.
