Youtube views Nb is rotten

I understood this morning why I get so many views on my techno live vids on youtube, even if my techno lives are broadcasted on an internet radio.
There is a promotion icon on my youtube channel, so I clicked on it and ... boom, halleluia, youtube asked me 200 $ for a 3 months promotion plan ! So I understood that if you don't pay for advertising your vids, you will probably not be at the top of the list in the youtube search engine.
Youtube is rotten as most of streaming plateforms, you have to pay to have a chance to be at the top.
Like in the old days when you had to be rich or know a label's owner to make carreer in the music industry.

It's called "business". Why the hell should anyone promote you if they get no compensation? You want to wave your hands in the air and yell "Look at me! Look at me!" You gotta pay for it.

because youtube makes money with adds even with free producers. If it's free you're the product.VOODOO U wrote: Sun Dec 03, 2023 4:14 pm It's called "business". it will be fair to write on youtube, if you don't pay, you will have fewers views, that's will be clear and not hypocritical to let video makers think they will have lot of views if the vids or music is good.
Note : that explain why we know hear lot of crap musics on mainstream radios, A Paris sound engineer once told me, music skill doesn't matter, it's all about the right relationship and money.
This is indeed capitalistic music that you can here on supermarkets to encourage you to buy products. What a pitty world...

When youtube needed creators. Creators had value. Now there is more content than salt in the ocean.....
Create value and folk will show up to exploit you.....just like the old days of record labels. Think Elvis.
Just like a band trying to get a gig a club. Band says ''i wanna play for your crowd'' Club says ''you bring the crowd and we will let you have the door and we will sell booze to them at a profit. If the club has a built in crowd.....you probably got free beer if you didnt have to pay for the exposure.
Even Lady Gaga has to rent the stadium. Its your risk to take.

exactly, last summer for music fest in France, I asked a coffee shop for playing a techno live set, the owner was OK but I had to bring customers we me. I also heard unknown artists had to pay 40 000 $ to be at the beginning of a concert of a famous group.Scrubbing Monkeys wrote: Sun Dec 03, 2023 6:01 pm When youtube needed creators. i see it as free storage.
it's up to you to publicise, take this thread, about your dj sets, where you failed to drop a link.
id love it if youtube did push everyone, but can see why that's not possible even if they wanted ro.

There you have it. Youtube has relationships with big companies and make money. That's the name of the game in economic society.it's all about the right relationship and money.
And now here comes Average Joe saying Gimmie This, Gimmie That, free free free. Why? Because Average Joe can finger tap a million notes on the guitar? It's parasitical.
A company makes money and now everybody comes charging in to demand.
If you want "free", go find a business that's willing to give you "free". No need to "deal" with Youtube.
Youtube makes money with ads and now what? Don't make more money? Why do that when you *can* make more money?
Bottom line Youtube doesn't care about talent; that's not where the money is at. The money comes from people having a natural tendency to feel acceptance.
Everybody loves and craves attention and that's the business of Youtube, to utilize that reliable trait and cash in.
Nobody is being taken advantage of though because Youtube is not mandatory.
You allow yourself to be "exploited" if you sign on thw dotted line.Scrubbing Monkeys wrote:Create value and folk will show up to exploit you.....just like the old days of record labels. Think Elvis.
I had opportunities to get signed and become big. I just said that little magic word.......No.
So because it's Lady GaGa she should be allowed to play at venues free of charge?Even Lady Gaga has to rent the stadium.
And there are labels/investors who would be willing to invest that money if they feel a band/artist is worth it.dupont wrote: I also heard unknown artists had to pay 40 000 $ to be at the beginning of a concert of a famous group.

These youtube promotions give you very low quality views with almost no engagement. Tried it once because I was curious.dupont wrote: Sun Dec 03, 2023 9:19 am I understood this morning why I get so many views on my techno live vids on youtube, even if my techno lives are broadcasted on an internet radio.

Point was Elvis had value therefore attracted the folk willing to invest/exploit.
Everyone is in it for themselves....as much as their conscience will let them take.....given the opportunity.
By the way Triumph was just the opposite. They knew what they had and controlled most of it. Great lesson there.

No.....point was.... she / promoter takes the risk, rents the place then promotes and sell tickets.

One of my videos has 100K views. It didn't impact my subscriber count or bank account in any significant way.

I've had I think three different entities offer me to advertise on my channel. One of them was DaVinci Resolve. And it's not my main channel, which has far more activity than the one I get offers regarding. So I don't know why. They are all video kind of concerns so it may have something to do with my visuals? I don't want to do it, I don't see it as going to amass any real lucre for me and I really don't want to inflict that on people that follow my music, or play the game.
Frankly you aren't playing the game either, expecting to be promoted and it not cost money, that isn't even in the remote vicinity of how the world works. The music business was strictly from Payola when I was a child and had notions of being a recording artist and nothing has changed (I had no illusions even then, record companies loaned you money to make the record; and then, until you obtain some clout and get your own publishing together they own the thing outright and you struggle to get your paltry piece of the pie. "Like in the old days when you had to be rich or know a label's owner" - uhhmmm... No. This isn't even close to real, either.).
and yeah, I totally think of it as free storage. I upload videos with 24-bit PCM audio. I download via Google Takeout and the audio is intact. The video has been compressed from my original (I pay google a couple bucks a month to store 'em for that), but it's the audio I stuck in there in Resolve.
