It just dawned on me as I was searching through the STYLUS box for my code to upgrade it to the new RMX version that this box full of CD's, manuals and packaging is totally useless now - I have several other 'boxes' with cd's/dvd's, manuals et al that have suffered the same fate - Battery, Halion, Live - this is so wastefull.
How about those people who used several Native Instrument titles to get the boxed collection or the yearly updates that most companies like Logic, stienberg and others put out.
Its a shame that all this just gets thrown away - because it is made totally obsolete and generally unusable due to the copy protection.
Perhaps no big deal in the great scheme of things but it would be nice if someone else could take advantage of them - I seperate this type of wastage from the - OH, I have 100's of boxed games in the loft that I bought for my 486 PC ; the difference being that a lot of the software that I am talking about is still perfectly usable.
Not a rant but just a thought - for stuff that doesn't have mega protection you could probably give it to someone for free but mostly this software is protected and becomes waste.
It would be great if you could donate the software to a person and that the developer would re-register it to them (perhaps with no further support thrown in).
I started to recycle my waste a while back and went from 2-3 black sacks of rubbish to 1/2 a black sack and 1 sack of re-cycle refuse; perhaps I am overly concerned
Flipper.
