I know a number of people here swear by JRR Shop and I know Uncle E pops in from time to time and has a soft spot for KvR orders. In fact, I don't think I have ever seen a word said in anger against JRR Shop, which is quite a feat, really. What I'm curious about is how they compare in overseas shipping.

The "big boys" (Audiomidi and the like) seem to charge around US$50 to ship to Australia. If you're ordering something like GuitarPort ($US99, but close to A$300 anwhere I've seen it here, which is twice what it should be not counting shipping, but even then it's more than I really want to pay over and above MSRP the rest of the world pays), that's half again added to the price :-o It's not immediately obvious from JRR's site what their shipping costs are like.

If anyone has used JRR Shop to ship to Australia (or similarly out of the way location - relatively speaking that is :D), I would love to hear how you though they stacked up?

Well, firstly, I'd recommend that you call them up. Eric and his brother are friendly and very helpful. I've had a couple of things shipped to Australia and had not problems at all. The service is great: the prices for the equipment itself tend to be much better than elsewhere and the shipping is about average. My UAD1 card was fairly cheap on shipping (about $US20, I think), I'd guess that compares to the GuitarPort in weight.

Still, best thing to do is give them a call (or an email). :-)

Cheers,

Mark
