Got all the albums, collected all the individual tracks she's done for soundtracks (at least an album's worth), downloaded all the live stuff I can find. She's my favourite bass player - I think she's funkier than Bootsy Collins! And I think she's very cool and I like her politics. If I was straight I'd probably be stalking her LOL !

loved her first CD back in the ninties "Plantation Lullabies" (god, am I old) and still love it. I'd call it intellectual poetic jazzy hiphop style. Listened to her 2nd cd back then and didn't like. Too much singing.

I didn't like it ("Peace Beyond PAssiom") at first listen, but then it became my favourite of hers, and still is ... give it another try!~housechimp wrote:Listened to her 2nd cd back then and didn't like. Too much singing.

"Plantation Lullabies" has got to be one of the grooviest albums ever in my book. Cool, VERY cool - yet exciting.

It was her on Lambs 'Sweet' wasn't it?
Totally took the track somewhere else, amazing stuff (though I guess the purists will tell me it's not her best work by far
)

Ive seen her twice,,,
Once with the big show band soul review style show where she had a second bass player,, and once at a Gay/Lesbian support group benefit show where i was escorted by my friend so i didn't get beat up,, i was probably the only straight male in the audience,, the first show was great but a bit to rehearsed,, the second show was the real deal,, nasty dirty funk and she played her ass off,,i think she had Dave Fuzinsky ( ? ) on Guitar,,,
