Hi, i'm trying to find some free host but most of the free's are trackers. It seems so complicated with all those text windows and all, can somebody help me to find some free host or teach me "tracking".

VSThost is pretty uncomplicated for a host.

If you need it to be slightly more complicated, were you looking for a sequencer or just something to house fx or vstis?

No man, i'm just tryin' to find regular (but free) sequencer!:ud:

I hate to say this, being an ex-tracker meself, but you're probably making you're life unnecessarily complicated by going the tracker route. Stick to good old piano rolls, they just make more sense.

Free Sequencers capable of VST hosting:

Then we also have the VFM ones, I'd recommend checking out podium and tracktion (90 and 80usd iirc)

Hi mate,

Unfortunately you'll find that most any form of creaing music on a computer isn't very simple. of you are really starting from scratch, you'll need to put in some work just learning the basics.

Hope you don't take this the wrong way, but you'll only get out as much as the effort you put in!

Tracktion is a very good host for beginners in my opinion, has a fairly un-complicated interface and plenty of power for the cost, which is about $80.

Good luck :)

Well, why didn't you say so? :P A host isn't always a sequencer.

Free solutions aren't always easy to come by with sequencers, mostly because sequencers generally take a lot of work to develop (vst compatibility seems to prove ugly). I'd recommend anyone check out Audiomulch, but it isn't a midi sequencer.

One solution would be to get VSTseq, render to audio, then sequence the audio in Kreatives.org Krystal.

You could also look into Quartz Audio Master Freeware. I don't think it hosts VSTi, though. If you only want to go free, you're going to have to be creative, and develop at least a little technical proficiency. You could use a free midi sequencer (there are lots around), route to a midi loopback driver, and send that output to a VSTi host (non-sequencer type).

Otherwise, Fruity Express is only $50. Perhaps get a paper route and save up.

Cheers,
Steve

Hi people, thank you very much for reply on this!

to NAD: Thank you for handbook link,i'll try it.

to stefancrs: Music Studio Independence looks very good and promessing, but the Kristal is very BUGish, at least for an option "playback in loop" , still thank you very much!

to quincy: Hi there, i know tracktion and it's more than good, i also know how to work completely with cubase vst,sx,sx2,reason,sound forge, cool edit and many others for i am a sound engineer. I just don't own one of them and they are pretty expensive to buy "just for fun"! I want to find something free for that purpose! Thank you!

to shamann: Quartz Audio Master Freeware it looks like PRO and the technical proficiency it's not the problem here, i'd buy a tracktion but:
1)i dont have a credit card
2)i live in israel, it is bit a dificult to find something here without doubled price.
Thank you very much for reply!

Have a nice day!!!

Scamme - My apologies, i thought you were a newbie asking for a ridiculously easy no-effort solution! As we all know they don't exist. Anyway my bad!

I'd suggest EnergyXT for 3 reasons:

1. Its extremely cheap
2. Its extremely powerful (really)
3. Best userbase/support i've ever seen

I know its not free, but for 39Euro its a superb piece of kit, and im sure plenty of people would agree that it would be worth every penny at 5 times that price.

Not XP, eh? That's unfortunate.

For audio sequencing, I'd still recommend checking out Kreatives.org Krystal. Not sure what else to suggest for MIDI.

How about FL Studio demo and Acid XPress... just make loops in Fruity and sequence em in Acid.
