Drum kits and drum patterns

I'm looking for both for my fledgeling "computer music workstation." I recently purchased OmniSynth by Sonic Reality, which is a cheap and effective solution for my musical needs, but the drum kits are pretty uninspiring. This leaves me the Virtual Sound Canvas drums, which are much worse. Any inexpensive drum sample libraries with a wide variety of drum types (both acoustic and electronic)?

Also, I'm not very good at writing my own drum patterns. I'm using Drums & Percussion by Twiddly.Bits, but I'm wondering if there's anything else. You know, drum patterns in midi format? I could always go the loop path, but loops seem to cater mostly to hip-hop, techno, r&b, etc. Nothing wrong with a good techno beat, but I'd also like rock and metal patterns, which don't seem to exist in loop format.

Any suggestions?

I'm not sure how much it costs but Groove agent is a very cool creative tool and it sounds pretty good.
