Hello sound seekers,
I'm happy to announce the release of my latest sound set for Tal-J-8.
Titled 'The Player', the 165 presets in this collection were made with the player in mind, the musician who likes to jam, play and enjoy lush, dynamic analogue-style sounds.
A special feature of this sound set is the new sound category: ‘LA’.
'LA' stands for ‘Linear Arithmetic’ which was a synthesis type introduced by Roland in their iconic D-50 synthesiser. The basic idea behind LA synthesis was to mix a short sample with a traditional oscillator. This provided lovely natural attacks (thanks to the sample) with synthesised sustains. Imagine a mallet sample layered with a pad.
The LA presets in the set are inspired by this idea. They use the dual-layer design of J-8 to create similar sounds, where layer one could be a strong attack forming a mallet, an EP, a pluck, and the second layer provides a pad, or some sustain that follows on from the initial attack. In all cases the two layers are made up of contrasting sounds.
A special intro price with a 20% reduction is available until 2024/04/15, simply use the following coupon at the checkout:

Good work, as usual, and a fair price for a good number. (So many ppl hardly touch 100 these days)
Nice to hear usable musical sounds too, I'm so tired of 'cinematic' crap that has no place in music...its just one key modulation guff.
As you say, made for musicians who like to play. Keep up the good work
(Sorry for the tiny rant )

Yeah agree, "cinematic" is an instant skip for me for presets now. If I need those I have enough to last 10 lifetimes. It's nice to have some real keyboard type sounds that can actually be played.seafire wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2024 6:01 pm Good work, as usual, and a fair price for a good number. Glad to hear that
Good things come to those who wait.
Thanks. I do hope that these preset come across as 'playable'.seafire wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2024 6:01 pm Good work, as usual, and a fair price for a good number. (So many ppl hardly touch 100 these days)

I'm in trouble then, since I have a 'cinematic' sound set done and waiting for release ( a different synth though). But, this one is genuinely made for those who score to picture. No cinematic textures or pads here, but content that I know at least one famous film composer would use....seangm wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2024 6:07 pmYeah agree, "cinematic" is an instant skip for me for presets now. But, I do love these simpler, analogue-style Keys sounds. The Synth category in this J-8 sound set is also full of very playable sounds. The KB and SY categories are often so similar, almost interchangeable. Although, I think personally, I've spent the most time jamming with the 'LA' patches.
Thank you

I'm sure there will be plenty of people that can use those cinematic sounds, I'm happy to see this soundset though geared more towards sounds that are more useable for my purposes.himalaya wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2024 9:17 pm I'm in trouble then, since I have a 'cinematic' sound set done and waiting for release ( a different synth though). I like my analogue patches to be playable in general. My Zebra2 'Analog Memories' sound set is similar.seangm wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2024 9:32 pmI'm sure there will be plenty of people that can use those cinematic sounds, I'm happy to see this soundset though geared more towards sounds that are more useable for my purposes.himalaya wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2024 9:17 pm I'm in trouble then, since I have a 'cinematic' sound set done and waiting for release ( a different synth though). Purchased. Great to see/hear a sound set so focused on musical, playable patches. 47 Keys and 32 Synths out of a total of 165 presets - good stats.
The demo video sounds like a best-of and gives Swan Audio's DIVA sets some solid competition. I was sold as soon as "Gold Synthesiser Keys" played.
Nice work!

The offer is still up - I forgot to amend the website.
I’m travelling at the moment (flying to Italy) so can’t change it, so you have 24h still!
