Okay.. I want to get my SL upgraded to SL3. Where do I buy the upgrade from? The steinberg online shop only ships upgrades in german and within germany. I checked the dv247 website and they don't seem to sell the upgrade?
Where did people who just upgraded their SX get the upgrade from?

You don't say where you are (I assume it's NOT in Germany, duh)... But Steinberg REALLY causes pains in my butt over their upgrade crap.
FIRST, if you are in the USA:
http://www.steinberg.net/
Go to "SHOP" and then "UPGRADES" and hopefully that will help you.
HOWEVER, if you're not in the U.S., then I have no idea... sorry...
-----------------------------
NOW, if you guys will let me get on the therapist's couch, I need to vent. I have owned Cubase since, uh, a LONG time. I think I first bought it at VST v3.5 -- 1997? Or '98? Something like 7 years, anyway. I have bought EVERY single update, and I love the program, it does exactly what I need and obviously much more -- not trying to "sell" anyone on it, I'm just saying it works for me. Hear me, friends -- I LOVE CUBASE!! Keep that in mind as you read the following...
Anyway, so until recently I lived in Hong Kong. When SX came out, I tried to go on the Steinberg websites and order the upgrade -- but NO, their site somehow "detects" that I'm not in the USA, and shuts you out of ordering anything from their online shop.
Okay -- that SUCKS, but fine, I understand they're trying to protect their distributors and all. So I accept it. I don't LIKE it, but whatever -- it smacks of that kind of smart-ass stuff Microsoft does (like if you go to download clipart from Microsoft's site while in Hong Kong, you can only see the site in Chinese, whether you can actually READ Chinese or not -- I'm like, Bill, okay, FINE, you're smart, you can see I'm in China, but give me a BREAK, dude, just cause I'm in China don't mean I'm CHINESE -- but don't let me get off track, ha ha)...
ANYWAY... So I can't order updates directly from Steinberg in the USA. Fine.
Do you think I could get any store in HK to sell me the upgrade to SX from VST 5.1? NO. "Did you buy it from us?" -- "Uh, NO, I just moved here from the U.S." -- "Well, then we can't sell you the upgrade."
I'm like, "What the..?!? I am standing here, with my dongle, discs and manual IN HAND, with my cash money IN HAND, and you won't sell me the upgrade?"
"Steinberg policy"...
Okay, I thought that was just HK people being a butt because obviously they don't make any money from upgrades -- it's just trouble for them, I'm cool with that -- I'd spent THOUSANDS at their store, but that's fine, I thought, they don't want to bother, nevermind. Waited until I was back in USA to order it.
NOW, I move to Tokyo, and again spend mucho dolares on gear at a store (getting my studio set up), but will they sell me the upgrade to SX3? NO.
"You must go to Steinberg in the country where you purchased it, and cancel your registration there. Then bring that paperwork to us, and re-register with Steinberg in Japan. Oh, and on top of paying the normal Japanese price for the upgrade, THERE IS AN **ADDITIONAL** FEE FOR THE RE-REGISTRATION IN JAPAN... Steinberg policy'...
And THAT, mi amigos, is why Steinberg customers love Cubase, but HATE the freakin' GUTS out of Steinberg.
(Whew -- I feel much better!)

----------
EDIT: I should say, the "policy" may not have been correctly communicated to me -- who knows if the guy knew what he was talking about -- but he spent 20 minutes on the phone trying to track down the answer -- AND, this was a professional store that distributes Cubase (the new "Rock On" store in Shibuya); and by the way, this is in contrast to the Yamaha store in Shibuya which told me that SX 3 wouldn't be available in Japan until next year!!
