Duane Eddy passed away Tuesday. What a loss! Pretty much the originator of all things twangy and drenched in reverb… father of instrumental rock. There never would’ve been surf music without Duane Eddy coming first.

RIP. I love his Wiki page. This is how they did it in the old days:
//the Phoenix studio had no echo chamber, Hazlewood bought a 2,000-gallon (7570-litre) water storage tank that he used as an echo chamber to accentuate the "twangy" guitar sound.//
Anything for THAT sound. True musician.

I didn't know of him, but I've been digging those riffs and songs all along. Rock on in peace.
Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

wowee
i've seen many documentaries that he's mentioned in
he had an influence on jimmy page and people like that
so, he's like from the generation before jimmy page's
jimmy page is like 80, so duane eddy was about 100 years old?
they always say he was big in the 1950s
i thought he died a long time ago
anyways..
rest in peace
