Pad sounds in Moderat - A New Error

Hi guys,

I've been fascinated by the opening pad/pluck synth(s) of this track since forever, can anyone help me figure out how to get close in sound?

It sounds really straightforward but I've really struggled to get it exactly right, and particularly get the weary, broken-battery sound.

The straightforward approach would be to do a saw-ish pluck with a chorus/stereo widener, but that doesn't sound 100% correct to me. There seems to be an underlying pad with an "aw" sound, is that right or am I barking up the wrong tree here? What kind of settings should I look for to get that?

A real bonus would also be the sphere-y pad sound from 1:44 - is this just a huge reverb from the lead and pluck or its own synth? It's more clearly audible from 2:30ish onwards, particularly in the breakdowns from 2:50 and 5:10 onwards.
