Hello!
Some EQs, like Melda's, have these 'band shelf' eqs that can do pretty specific octave ranges without having the same narrow peaks as regular bell band eqing.
I was wondering how you could make one, or the sort of theory behind them. The idea would be to make on in Gen~ eventually but I do need to understand it first.
Cheers, Sam.
What is a Band Shelf eq (and how are they made?)

maybe you could subtract the low and high shelf?
-inversion is a function that might be relevant

Well, I think that just e.g. hi-shelf +6dB @4kHz and hi-shelf -6dB @5kHz makes a +6dB band shelf between 4k and 5k.

yeah something like that
the steepest filters are elliptical,
but a frequency domain filter conjunct is possible too
