Yamaha QS300 (Sample Start)

In the Yamaha QS300 synthesizer, in one of the presets I discovered that the sample’s starting point for playing the sample had been shifted. In samplers, this parameter is usually called "Sample Start". However, I did not find such a parameter in the QS300. I also didn’t find such a parameter in the “XG-Gold” editor.

How was such a preset created?
How it is possible to change and edit this parameter "Sample Start"? And within what limits?

Are you sure it's sample start? Perhaps just a longer envelope attack time? Modulated by velocity for example?

Yes.. very similar to "Sample Start". The pitch, amplitude and filter envelopes were reset to the default state. LFO too. No modulations or effects are attached. If I change waveforms, then any of them does not start from the beginning, the attack is cut. Obviously a setting within a preset that is not accessible from the synthesizer menu. There are other settings that are only available in the external editor XG-Gold ... but I didn’t find "Sample Start" in XG-Gold. Perhaps this is available from some older editors for Windows 95

This might be a long shot but have you tried QSEdit? It's old, Win95 era.

I don't actually have a QS300 but I use QSEdit with an MU10 which can load QS300 patches (although not all 4 elements) in its user bank. I don't recall any sample start parameters and would have to fire an old XP machine up to double check but it might be worth investigating if you have an old 32bit machine for these kinds of situations.

It remained in beta so there was no final version which is a shame as I find the GUI is very intuitive, however, it works well enough as an editor. I'm tempted to go fire it up now but I'm supposed to be working.

Thank you. I'll have to try this program. Already experimentally and on the advice of other people, we figured out that the midi parameter Address Offset is responsible for the function I need. But in the QSEdit screenshot I don’t see the Address Offset parameter, just like in the XG Gold editor. But anyway, thanks for the link

Nevermind. I see the gear space discussion now! Ages ago, Midi Ox used to be my go-to for this kind of Sysex transmission. May still work.
