ROLAND MV-8000/8800 Roll button info

Hi guys, I wonder if Roll button (note repeat) when pressed, also works while playing keys on the MIDI keyboard controller connected to the MIDI In of the Roland MV-8000/8800 or only works while playing MV-8000/8800 pads. Anybody knows? Thanks!
