Stereo Pairs and Not Mono I/Os - E-MU 1212M and Micro Dock M

I just happened to purchase a barely used E-MU Micro Dock M to pair with my own barely used 1212M (of which only the 1010 card can be used if the Micro Dock is connected).

Only now when I wanted to proceed with installation, I noticed that on both, i.e. the 0202 daughterboard and the Micro Dock M, the analog inputs and outputs are specifically labelled as stereo pairs L and R and not single mono channels (except the Micro Dock M front panel that of course gives two Mic/Line inputs).

I searched the internet including magazines like SOS and even KVR, but no one has so far either had a problem that only stereo I/Os are available, or, there is a secret - may be within the patchmix app - that helps to bypass this limitation. It is a serious limitation for those who do not want to add an ADAT Pre to such an old setup, yet wants to use the product to its fullest.

If anyone has any experience or information, I shall be obliged if it can be shared.

When recording you can select just the left or right part to a mono track, it's not a problem.

Many daws also allow to have all inputs handled and listed as mono channels.
