Now, I think my current controller might be part of the issue. I got an old Boss DR-5 and I've been using a MIDI to USB cable to use it as a controller. Works great, except for that fact that I'm getting a LOT of stuck MIDI notes with it.
But the thing is, I also get stuck MIDI notes even when using a DAW or host's "virtual MIDI keyboard," though not as often. (and which DAW/host doesn't seem to matter, it happens in everything I've tried.)
Which brings me to my question -- is there anything that can done about this? Or does everyone just learn to live with it?
Are stuck MIDI notes just a fact of life?

I'm going to hazard a guess (as I also experience this occasionally on an older system). Check to see if this happens primarily when the system is also doing other things (other programs running, background tasks). Minimize/stop other programs/tasks. Check especially for disk activity, like indexing or defragmentation processes. If the system is responding slowly it might be missing MIDI Note-off events (and perhaps even causing audio glitches).
