This is another ambient/electro hybrid car-crash. I put it together in April 2023. In March 2024, I decided that it needed to be a little louder, and remastered with a different chain. It's less quiet than the earlier version. This was created in EnergyXT2.7 (32-bit) which I still use occasionally. The 64-bit DAWS that I was using at the time did not support VST3 or CLAP (although that has now been rectified). This was my first attempt at using RIBS as a granular FX processor. I was quite happy with the results.

Paramorph: You paint a vast, rich fantasy landscape using musical means. I always
vacillate between a sunrise in front of a planetary landscape or an apocalyptic
cave hike whose rock walls are constantly changing. At 2:45, sudden rhythmic
elements enter and give the track a kind of heartbeat. This changes the character
of the track: it sounds more hectic, more urban. At the end, the action returns to
the drumless floating sphere that the song had at the beginning.
Overall, the track feels like a small, fantastic fictional journey. Well done!

The first part is just glorious! What a beautiful floating start (and end).
Builds nicely into the beat sections with real drum sounds, nice and unexpected.
I can imagine Steve Hackett soloing over this section...
Well done!

As someone mentioned in the comments, interesting start, and the ending pads as well. Is that voice pad/thing Iris 2 by any chance?

Lovely stuff Tim! I'm big on the high warbly ringing chime sounds and I think they contrast nicely with the sustained choral pads. I love the subtle groove that enters and I could happily let that that section run for quite some time. I like the way the percussive hit pitches with the tune and it adds tension to the piece.
As always, a pleasure to listen to.

Nice choices of imagery. They both work for me, but the cave hike idea just gets my voteenroe wrote: Wed Jul 17, 2024 4:09 am Paramorph: You paint a vast, rich fantasy landscape using musical means. I always

Maybe the rhythmic section is a better fit with the cave hike idea when an unfortunate explorer realises that things may not be what the seemed when first seeing those rock walls.enroe wrote: Wed Jul 17, 2024 4:09 am At 2:45, sudden rhythmic elements enter and give the track a kind of heartbeat. Tons of great layers in the pads. Drum sounds are just right and compliment them nicely. Great pattern as well.
When the data is corrupt in the Desert of the Real, Beyond the Last Thought, where intuition reigns, is the solace that will embolden and strengthen the soul, giving hope once more to this age of failing technique. eassae.com

The intro is a couple of Z3ta+2 factory patches (one of them is being processed by RIBS), an Obscurium patch, and some PaulStretched vocal samples. Through a loooong reverb.Allomerus wrote: Sat Jul 20, 2024 12:36 pm The first part is just glorious! What a beautiful floating start (and end).

I'll have to check Steve's rates, but he's back on the road in a couple of weeks.

Well spotted. Z3ta+2 is the synth used at the beginning of the piece. That patch has a voice-like character, but quite synthetic-sounding. The sampled/stretched vocals from Iris join in at 0:36. I'm going to try feeding that into a granular processor for one of my future pieces.Opaque wrote: Sat Jul 20, 2024 5:37 pm As someone mentioned in the comments, interesting start, and the ending pads as well. The warbly ringing chime is an Obscurium sequence through a long Aether reverb. The synth pad is Z3ta+2 using its built-in reverb. I also have some PaulStretched vocals from Sampletank through Aether. The groovy bit is another Obscurium patch.polyslax wrote: Sat Jul 20, 2024 7:24 pm Lovely stuff Tim! I could meditate to the opening part. It's very contemplative. Then the percussion and drums kick in and take things up a notch. I love the journey of it.

The softer/pitched percussion sequence is Obscurium. The kit drums are from a set of XR10 samples made for the EnergyXT2 drum sampler.eassae wrote: Sun Jul 21, 2024 5:44 pm Tons of great layers in the pads. Drum sounds are just right and compliment them nicely. Great pattern as well.
