Korg SQ-64 Pattern Chain mode has me scratching my head

Well, pattern mode in general, TBH. I have 4 tracks I can compose with, but shouldn't a button in Pattern Mode include everything in Tracks A, B, C and D? But on the 64, a pattern seems to be split across 4 buttons, one for each track. But I want to condense all the pattern data onto one button so I could specify first and last patterns in a chain. I seem to have to manually press the buttons to advance from one pattern to the next. I must be doing something wrong.
