  • Low CPU usage.
  • 64 bit sound processing (double precision).
  • Wide range of decay time 0.1..100 s.
  • Sound "freeze" function with the ability to control the pedal of the midi controller.

This is not an update, but essentially a newly created plugin. However, it is backward compatible with the first version - you can load presets and banks into it that were made in the first version.

Many thanks for this, Vasyan. Looking forward to check it out!

This version also doesn't work properly in Cubase 12 on Windows.

1.0 would have an issue where the knobs would often just reset once you clicked on them to move them, making you unable to edit any of the parameters.

In 2.0, the GUI of the knobs behave correctly, but I have a feeling the same issue is happening to the parameters. For example, moving the Mix or Decay Time knobs will impact the sound until you let go of the mouse, and then you can barely hear anything. The "Wet Only" toggle only works for a brief moment, and the Freeze button doesn't seem to work at all.

Not sure what's going on, but I was really looking forward to this version working in Cubase. Hopefully that's something that can be fixed at some point!

Thanks for finding an inaccuracy in the plugin.
We will try to fix it. I wanted to remind you that not long ago I held a vote on who uses which DAW in our public. Therefore, we conduct testing on the most popular DAWs, but Cubase is not one of them.

Hey, thanks for looking into it!

As for the poll, there are a few reasons why it might not be accurate, but if DReverb 1.0 didn't work correctly in newer versions of Cubase (at the very least, the VST3 in Cubase 12 and 13 in Windows), then that might already significantly limit the number of Cubase users using your plugins and following your development enough to know about and answer a poll. I know for me personally, I just made a mental note to download it again if a patch was ever released or if I ever switch DAWs.

Just wanted to offer some insight. Thanks again!

As a Reaper user, I would like to note that I hope things improve for Cubase users. I wish only for harmony between the major represented DAWs of the poll, and the smaller outlying powers of the poll. Together we can forge a path where all may use this free reverb plugin. In time, perhaps more of their users may visit our lands, and trade may flourish.

I guess I just won't use your plugins, no big deal.
Let's all chill out a bit, he just said he missed a bug because he prioritized testing for the setups that covered the largest proportion of their customers. Developers have to use their time and resources efficiently and sometimes bugs slip through. He explicitly expressed appreciation for it being pointed out and said he will try to fix it, that's quite the opposite of a "middle finger".

Unfortunately, I don't have Cubase 12. A few years ago, Cubase10.5 was presented and I checked the plugin's work in it. The plugin works normally, the only thing is that you cannot enter numbers into the parameter value fields using the keyboard. This is because in Cubase, the numeric keys are hotkeys for the toolbar, so these clicks do not enter the plugin - DAW does not want to give them to any. Moreover, I did not find an option where it was possible to allow the transfer of keystrokes to the plugin.

Well, about the main thing - I don't think it's about the version, because nothing changes dramatically in new versions, especially in software products from Steinberg, which in turn, like no other, strictly follow the VST protocol.

I suggest that interested parties transfer Cubase 12 to me for free use in order to solve this problem. Although I'm not sure that it will be able to resolve this.

The latest DReverb2 update is available
version 2.0.9

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYNPxdvC_a4

What has been done:
  1. Fixed background rendering when reopening the plugin.
  2. The name of the plugin has been changed to DReverb2, both the file name and the internal name used by the DAW.
  3. The levels of dry and wet signals during the mix have been adjusted, they have become more aligned for the real signal.
  4. Smooth adjustment of the Mix, Width, Diffusion and Predelay parameters has become possible, which eliminates artifacts in the form of clicks and crackling when rotating the handles.
