Any plugin/method to add information without it being a saturator precisely?

I want to add information (in a certain area) just like a saturator does, but I don't want to use one (it's for a kick). Any creative ideas on this? (Although the would be complex). Really many thanks

). I'm sorry if i am sounding like an idiot. I just want to do my best with the mix.

depends what kind of information u want to add, usually a saturator is pretty good for adding harmonics, but if u for example had a kick and u feel its lacking idk some midrange 600hz knock , maybe find another kick that has sonic content in the area you like, and subtly blend it in while bandpassing it? or use copies of the same kick, but pitch shifted?
or if youre looking for below the kick, a sub generator?
I think if you want more "information" somewhere, and u dont want it to be additional harmonics of any kind, which usually do a good job of filling up the spectrum, you kind of have to curate what kind of information you'll want, as far as im aware theres no plugin that just arbitrarily does that for you

Agreed, something like:Gamma-UT wrote: Mon Aug 19, 2024 8:40 am Layering some foley sound on top of the kick is probably going to work better for you here.

Rbass is saturation at work. It's a waveshaper on a filtered input that gets mixed into the source.Pinkfloydian5 wrote: Mon Aug 19, 2024 8:09 am Edit: Right. You're going to get better answers if you actually write what you want to achieve. "Adding information" isn't cutting it.

I didn't know rbass did that. I didn't want to condition the answers and preferred to leave it open to creativity —thinking, really foolishly, that I had added a necessary minimum with which I had made myself understood. ...The thing is, I put a spectral instrument called moodal in a send channel that allows you to add or remove harmonics —i think— (making the metallic sound brighter or hollower) and then I added an xfer ott to get the hardness that the Rbass applies to the kicks. Then I even added a compressor with a strong knee and finally, the KHS non-linear filter with the shape of an inverted u haha to isolate only one part to add. Finally, on the dry kick, with the eq, I made a hole in the same place, of the same size, to fit the send channel piece.
Although it wasn't what I was looking for, I still really liked your idea. I'm going to apply it with some organic sample instead of the hihat. Thank you. And well, this is more or less the idea, if you can think of another creative way to achieve something similar to Rbass.

That doesn't sound like a bad idea for a special effect. You might find it easier to run it into Moodal (or whatever other combo of effects) and then high-passing the output before mixing back into the source. You won't have to do nearly as much processing to the core kick as you will have removed low-end stuff that will do most of the damage through phase cancellations. It also allows for more automation (such as ramping up the resonance on beat one and then easing off for the upbeats).Pinkfloydian5 wrote: Mon Aug 19, 2024 10:29 am The thing is, I put a spectral instrument called moodal in a send channel that allows you to add or remove harmonics —i think— (making the metallic sound brighter or hollower)

As others have said the term saturation is kind of misleading.
Waveshaping is the overall concept. Saturation is a more colloquial term for waveshaping and is associated with particular types of processing.
Waveshaping is a non linear process where a transfer function is applied to an input signal to produce a particular output signal.
The function can be pretty much anything but there are particular ones that are useful for audio.
Wavesfactory Spectre is one of the best for creating frequencies that don't exist in the original signal (hence the name, spectre)
