Hay.

I have this Mackie headphone connected to my external usb soundcard. Mostly it seems it sounds like mono sound when i for example listen to youtube music. But if i twist(or turn around) the headphone connector to the soundcard the sound sometimes gets fuller or more stereo in sound. Often it then goes back to this more "mono" sound if i move around with my head with the headphone connected, then i have to "dial" in the headphone connector again to get more fuller stereo sound. I can't describe it better. I tried to google the word and it says i might suffer from loose connection, glitch connection or backlash connection. The thing is that this fuller more stereo sound is sometimes hard to "dial in" with my headphone connector to the usb soundcard...... so much i thing it is indeed not correct and the more "mono" sound is the more correct sound.

Does anyone understand what i am talking about?

Best regards.

Sure. You need to wiggle and push the plug until it is truely stereo.

The 3.5mm TRS plug format leaves hardly any tolerance room for a slight misalignment which makes you lose stereo signal. And the socket may be made for headphones with a mick which have an extra connection, being TRRS. Some time ago I posted a picture which helps to illustrate the issue.

Not all sockets & plugs are equal. It may be worth the gamble to buy a cheap extension chord.

You have a bad, or loose connection somewhere. Can you try another set of headphones to narrow down the options?

I forgot to ask: what make & model "external usb soundcard" do you have? If it's one of those adapters (not really a card) that is made for smartphones without a headphone socket, I think it's the extra mic channel which gets in the way.

I searched for posts mentioning "TRRS" and found this product which may be exactly what you need:

BertKoor and thecontrolcentre to the rescue. Solved now!!!!!
Thanks :) The soundcard is Kurzweil. The Headphones is a Mackie.

I have the headphones, then extension cable, pretty much the one u linked, BertKoor. Then i have in the end an 3,5 to 6,3 converter. I searched my home and found another 3,5 to 6,3 converter and that was the problem. Thing is i have lived with this "mono" to "stereo" sound problem for some time now but got my act together after your answers. I feel a bit silly, but thanks for the heads up!!!!

Good evening and cheers! :)
