Why not use your hosts compressor for the duty?

I agree, I settled almost exclusively on Liquidsonics/Reverb Foundry products because they cover almost all bases, but I would use Valhalla more if they had a similar degree of control. Valhalla Room almost does, but it lacks the ducking.
Every day takes figuring out all over again how to f#ckin’ live.

Bitwig would also let you do sidechain compression within the same track easily enough.
It's easy in REAPER if you know how to use the plugin channel matrix.
In Reason it's a bit of fiddling with the splitter but not a big deal.
All of those DAWs allow you to put that setup into a container and save it for convenience.

All you need is an instance of Pulsar. Using a compressor for this would be an absolute overkill.imrae wrote: Sun Sep 22, 2024 9:17 pm In Reason it's a bit of fiddling with the splitter but not a big deal.

Sure, in that case I usually made the decision its part of the sound itself though ... but yeah I actually hmm.. could one do a rack in Ableton in this case and .. no. Ok!

Sean Costello at Valhalla has always been a minimalist in terms of giving the plugins the controls/features he feels are essential, and nothing more. I sometimes wish the Valhalla stuff had input/output gain controls, level metering, and some sort of dynamics control, but IMO they are some of the best-designed, best-sounding plugins out there, so I happily use them just the way they are.
