They just keep on giving. Long live the good people at PSP Audioware.

80 quid for such a quirky and limited plugin is quite a big ask for me personally. Still, I suppose it's nice for people who like to have emulations of rare old bits of gear.

Expensive, but really nice...

Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia ... a lot of ingenuity coming from those areas. :tu:

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. We know that many of you are tired of vintage EQs, and it can often feel like they all sound the same. Honestly, we felt the same way and were initially quite skeptical about this project. The idea came to us through Adam Piskorz, who introduced us to the Datamix console—a name that was new to us. As we dug into its history, we were truly impressed by its legacy. For those interested, we highly recommend a fascinating article in Sound on Sound magazine: Classic Tracks – Jimi Hendrix Experience, 'All Along the Watchtower'.

Adam generously lent us eight original Datamix EQ modules from the Record Plant console, which was used to record Hendrix’s Electric Ladyland. These modules were meticulously restored and became the foundation of our plug-in. You can set the plug-in to model any of the eight modules, use an average of all of them, or choose an “idealized” version with precise knob settings—something the originals certainly lacked!

This plug-in is definitely a "love it or hate it" kind of tool. It’s not a universal, smooth EQ for every situation or a traditional mastering EQ; rather, it’s more of a shaping tool. Some testers have found it works well on vocals, others on drums, and some prefer it for guitars. There’s really no one-size-fits-all rule. Give it a try, and we look forward to hearing your thoughts.

P.S. If you’re an analog enthusiast and want to own original modules from the second generation of Datamix from Electric Studio, there’s an opportunity currently available for $4,000.

I don’t watch Marlon’s videos but thanks for the update. This EQ is really well made and sounds bloody good.
