Actually, it already exists. I just haven't released it, since you can use MiniHost (and get a thousand more features)...
If you need it just let me know.

What's the difference between the minihost and a standalone ASIO version ?

Feature-wise, Minihost will provide:
- a builtin graphic keyboard to play the synth
- a graphical cpu meter
- a presets manager
- a chords maker, step sequencer, arpeggiator and midi gate.
It also works with any vsti, not only Rhino. And it's supported by Tobybear

ummm I have found mini host to be buggy as hell Tick... I've messed with every version to come along for the last few months and finally had to swear off it.
Chainer don't have all the same features but is stable as can be for me for asio.
I do still also think the standalone asio option would be desireable. Clearly some people might want the standalone to only have ASIO as an option, but performance wise, on my sytems, asio is 'the' only way to go. I also would be interested in a standalone with asio.

Allright.... there's now a standalone version with experimental ASIO support, available for download with your site code.
I still believe MiniHost is better, but anyway...
Enjoy,
