I don't want any wires but a microphone to record singing on the go so to speak, open air, on beach, in my car, tent, etc, or one where I can easily go indoors without needing to lug an audio interface around or even a computer, maybe phone access. I could record in a church or other rooms of my choosing on the fly.

On a secondary concern, I'm wondering if there is a mic that will only pick up the audio within a few feet and not pick up sounds further away, I believe this is called a nearfield unidirectional mic.

Suggestions?

Sound like any portable recording device out there.
- but most are larger than you want

I like recorders or dictaphones from Olympus like LS-P1 or similar.
- runs on a single AAA battery weighs total 50g or so.
- backlit lcd works in any poorly lit environment
- built in stereo mike
- there are certain modes to record closeby or in a meeting
- up running in 3s
- cost about $100 or so

The dictaphone WS-831, one button press less, it starts record immediately pressing record button.
- the recoder LS-P1 you can adjust levels first press record
- then another press start recording

Maybe your smart phone is enough, really, without extra bluetooth mike.

What is wrong with a bluetooth headset: headphones with a mic. The kind with the mic on a stick to hover right in front of your mouth.

Heck, I'll take my wired earbuds with tiny mic on the wire over any full sized headset. Just plugging it into the phone is so much easier than the hassle of bluetooth pairing.

I have one of these. I use it often for work but it's my goto quick and dirty recording device. Unlike a phone, the battery is not going to die suddenly on you. Mine is a Sony, I couldn't tell you what model. It doubles as an emergency USB stick.
