but didn’t say when the guitars were taken, which country they came from, or who made them.
I wonder which country they came from?

Gibson got emotional thinking of all the money they'll now make from people who won't get their knock offs and who will instead buy real gibsons for 4 times the price. Yeah right.
With those kinds of resources you would think that the manufacturers would just start their own guitar brand. They are more than likely pretty good guitars with the branding being the only thing fake about them. All that time and effort and raw materials for everything to end up destroyed on a garbage heap. What a waste.
In a sane world the branding would be removed and the guitars distributed to schools etc by the government, which from the perspective of the manufacturer would be as bad as destroying them, they would learn their lesson for sure. But it's not really about customers or guitars or artistry or anything like that, it's about money and control. If schools or other organisations need new guitars they can't be getting freebies from the government, they are just gonna have to buy overpriced Gibsons or some other more fairly priced, legal knockoff made in a factory not far from the one that produced these like the rest of us.
Now, I want to see a video of the Gibson CEO taking a sledgehammer to 100s of perfectly good guitars in the name of 'artistry'. That would be fitting.

Have you seen this one? I remember the story as something like they used a technology that wasn't selling and so rather than discounting them, they lined them all up and destroyed them:lotus2035 wrote: Sun Dec 08, 2024 5:29 pm Now, I want to see a video of the Gibson CEO taking a sledgehammer to 100s of perfectly good guitars in the name of 'artistry'. They could've donated them to schools or such. Donations are tax-deductible.gullfo wrote: Tue Dec 24, 2024 8:17 pm if they're destroyed they get a tax write off. if they discount then they get less money than the value of writing off the destruction

As I recall Gibson was going chapter 11 and by saying they couldn't sell guitars they wanted to be free from debt. The problem was they wouldn't lower prices on guitars and rather than being struck down for having a large inventory.. Gibson destroyed them.
