Hiy there:)
May be someone knows how to do it.
I want to add my own samples to the samplefolder of an Kontakt instrument I bought.
My files are WAVE, but the sound files of the instrument I bought are ncw format.
Is there a way to convert my WAVE to ncw with Kontakt?
Or another way?
Thanks a lot.

You don't have to convert to NCW necessarily. Feel free to mix up formats, Kontakt will work just fine.

I still use kontakt 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7. 6 and 7 (presumably 8 also but I haven't installed it) are the only ones that tried to be jerks by not including the version number in the plugin name. They are just called "kontakt".
If you re-save things (definitely the instrument files but possibly the ncw compressed files) in a later version it won't be compatible with the older versions. That's one of the reasons I have so much old stuff hanging around on My system. I also like to be able to open old projects and see what I was doing years ago. The compressed audio files are lossless but you'll lose flexibility by not keeping the WAV files.

Here the names are Kontakt 7 and Kontakt 8, while Kontakt 6 is listed as "Kontakt". I was mildly if not morbidly curious about 8, since deleted. Chances are not zero I'll forget myself and do a batch resave or something mindless and be stuck with it. As far as "NI Products have a life cycle", some have seen end of life. They called time of death on Absynth 5 in 2022.
They put a red X on compatibility for Apple silicon "Rosetta 2" 3 OSes ago; it isn't true, I used it my most recent project, OS Sonoma 14.7.1. Kore 2 OTOH is dead dead, I couldn't install it in 2020. after 9 yrs among the undead.
I can't install Kontakt 5, but it's in Native Access. They aren't going to kill Kontakt anytime soon, Chicken Little notwithstanding.

Agreed, I use Absynth on Mac mini M2 Pro (Silicon) with Logic 11.1.2 and Sonoma 14.7.3 and that may very well be the reason that I will not be updating anything any time soon.

about 2-3 years ago I VERY hurtly experienced how i couldnt install and launch my old plugins, yeah i didnt pay attention and had a long pause and didnt see the NI message still a mess, i wont repeat myself here.
NI sucks still so much with all their updates/upgrades, they are very customer unfriendly and i can ONLY URGE anyone to ALWAYS make pictures and save your kontakt presets!
i dont know how the devs cannot guarantee backwards compatibility and if they just dont care?

I have Sampletank libraries from ages ago that still work!
Not that I use them, but they still work.

But for most old stuff the legacy installers should still work.
If you go into the preferences of Native Access 2, you can choose to enable the "Legacy Installers" there.
It works definitely for Absynth 5, Guitar Rig 5 and Kontakt 6 (which I still have).
I mean NI are definitely not the best and their move to unable 3rd party midi controllers left me selling my A49, but if you get to a human customer service employee, they try to help as best as possible.
At least it was my case when I needed an older version of "Massive" for some older presets.

I bought a new computer, it had Sequoia installed, I didn't feel up to wiping the drive. Absynth 5 standalone works under OS15.3.1. I'll have to run VE Pro in Rosetta mode to check the plugin (slave VEP machine, no DAW) but I'm reasonably sure it'll work.soundman007 wrote: Sun Feb 16, 2025 1:48 pm Agreed, I use Absynth on Mac mini M2 Pro (Silicon) with Logic 11.1.2 and Sonoma 14.7.3 and that may very well be the reason that I will not be updating anything any time soon.

... only solution will be traveling back in time to add the new code of say Kontakt 8 to earlier versions.Caine123 wrote: Sun Feb 16, 2025 2:07 pm i dont know how the devs cannot guarantee backwards compatibility
the trick here is obvious: you see an update to a Kontakt library in Native Access, ignore it. It will update to the current version. Also NI maintains a page with eariler versions of libraries. I think it's about Kontakt 6. I had done the boneheaded thing twice, incl. one thing I've really used and there came a point where Kontakt 7 was just anathema to me, so I accessed those. There's a thread somewhere with the link I bet.

I've found the trick is to have the full original files and folder structure for every kontakt player library. If I want to save a new version I save it as a completely separate version so I know my old junk works still.
