Which Daw Can Do This

Which Daw has a piano editor that allows you to store pattern presets so that you don't have to draw each time the same pattern.
If I need to draw an off beat bass it would be easier to select a preset rather than drawing it each time.
This is valid for drum patterns too. Drawing a snare roll each time can be painful, but If I had a preset for it I could select it and edit it to make it fit in that specific project.

Post

Don't all DAWs allow you to save MIDI clips?

Post

almost every daw can store midi clips which is the producer way of storing such "presets".

Cakewalk Project5 is setup really good for this>>>

That's fantastic. Hopefully the OP can get a discount on Project5 for the holidays

If I want to use a "fill in" or a special drums pattern that I'm not sure I can do it myself, I use a drums plugin like Addictive Drums and Groove Agent.

Anyway, DAWs that use patterns (that come to mind) are S1 and Logic. Also, you may look into pattern based DAWs like FL Studio and NI Maschine, but as others mentioned, they are midi files essentially so you can use any DAW and save your midi files and organise them for future reference. For me, I use Ableton Live clips and save them if I want to re-use them again. So, it is just a matter of saving what you think you might use in the future and then recall it by browsing within your DAW.
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Duplicate the MIDI part as many times as you want in the arranger.
What DAW doesn't do that?

Well technically he wants to store a preset he can reuse to add the exact same snare roll to all his projects. Forever. :hihi:

Otherwise I'm pretty sure it's just Ctrl + D everywhere.

In Live you can just drag the clip into your user library. Or better yet, make it into a groove and store it in the groove pool in your default set

Yeah, in Studio One you can also have a MIDI file in your Files browser tab and simply drag it. Or it can be in a Scratchpad or Launcher cell.

And then of course there's this:

Yes, I understand I could use midi files, but this won't really speed my workflow.
In the Daw I use, which is Cubase, copy relative to the original position doesn't work in the key editor, it works only in the main project window.
Image

It means that every time I copy I need to select the notes, copy them to the next bar, select them again, copy to the next bars etc...when you do this multiple times in a project, and in many other projects you get the idea...

So my problem is more to do with Cubase than else it seems. In Ableton for example copy relative to the original position works normally. So I guess I need to find another Daw rather than fighting with Cubase constantly.

What you need to do is to use the range tool (press 2) and highlight the range you want, then Ctrl+D will copy that range inside your key editor:
