Hi, same issue as in Studio One Pro 7.... CFBundleLoadExecutable failed for plugin 'whatever' Couldn't create VST Instance for 'whatever'. Sometimes it is just Couldn't Create VST3 Instance for 'whatever'....

It happens on maybe half of my VST's, whether VST or VST3. Apple M2 Pro 32GIG Ventura 13.5.2

The common denominator in my last three tickets seems to be that the hosts are all developed for live performance... LiveProfessor2, Studio One Pro 7, GigPerformer 5.

Did you scan them first?
Are you dragging and dropping them into MuLab?

I've noticed that some Vst's that I know load, will act kind of squirrelly all of a sudden and not load sometimes, until I rescan them and then they drag and drop and load again.

Some DAWs dont support the bundle, you often need to browse into the "plugin name".vst3 top level folder, all the way
down until you get to the actual plugin,
typically its in x86_64 (or something smilar)
under windows. Dunno about mac.

Anyway, not sure if this is whats going on,
but i often have to do that in MuLab.

So whenever you see that a vst3 plugin
is a multi-lever folder with resource
folders and whatnot inside. thats a bundle,
not your typical compliled vst3 plugin,
which is just a single file. Some installers
will even give you a choice of the bundle
or standard formats.

*Also, under windows explorer, the bundles should be listed before the compiled plugins, since they are seen as folders. Typically anyway.

It is dependent on the host. If I rescan all known in Mulab in LiveProfessor2, it finds everything, foldered or not. But when I tried that in GigPerformer5, Mulab fails about half of them. Now I can't further investigate, as GigPerformer 5 blows up on its auto-scan (after I rescanned via LiveProfessor2 / Mulab). Good thing my copy of GigPerformer is just an evaluation copy. Unsure how rescanning in one host makes the other host blow up afterwards. I did have a copy of Mulab inserted in GigPerformer5, but I can't get to the point where I can remove it.

Now, in Studio One Pro 7 - having rescanned all OK in Mulab/LiveProfessor2, Mulab still failed to open them in Studio One, so I rescanned all in Mulab/Studio One, and it re-failed them.

Did you delete your old scan before rescanning?

Open up the plugin in manager, select anything, and hold down he delete button, until it erases everything. And then do the same things for all three categories.

What happens if you use NanoHost to open up your MuLab plugin, and scan just with that. To get "clean" neutral scan. And then try to open that up in your different Daws.

Post

Thank you for that thought :). I deleted everything. I used something besides Nanohost, but Mulab re-scanned most everything successfully. However, on opening Mulab in Studio One or GigPerformer, same results :( - Mulab has the 'problem' VST's in it's list, but fails to open an instance of them (whereas it can in the host where I re-scanned - the problem with that host is mystery audio glitches when using Mulab Plug, which is what started my epic search for a new live-performance host).

What are you trying to achieve?
With MuLab Plugin?

It sounds like you are looking for a live performance platform?
EXT64: https://www.xtsware.com/?page_id=6
Is an unaffiliated paleo version of MuLab.

It has many similarities, probably even more portable.
It has more compatibility with some plugins, Rolands specifically,
but its not a vst.

Post

Thanks for that :)! That seems to be a dead page / product - I can't get to it even if I search EXT64. Is/was it useable on a MAC M2 I wonder? But yes, you are correct - I just want to wrap Mulab Plug in a live host so I can step forward through songs, with pre-loading. None of these hosts offers the ability to do what Mulab does, so I have to stay primarily in the Mulab universe. I guess in the meantime I have to fumble with a mouse, banter and wait between tunes. A footswitch would be kooler though!

Post

Its definately not Mac.
The 64 bit Win version was the last respect for the legendary 32 bit version.

And even before that, MuLab remade the spirit of it.
