Asking here because I can't find a way to register to their forums. Does anyone know if there are any plans on bringing back Edison and Maximus as VSTs? Can't check on their forums either so I'd appreciate if someone could help out here (maybe ask some of the developers over there or something).

I can't find any alternative to Edison (not sure why no one has done it, would love someone working on it instead of a 300th variation of an 1176, but that's not for me to decide hahaha) and loved it inside FL when trying it out. Would love to have it as a tool in Ableton.

Before people saying just use a channel in Ableton, I like the workflow Edison provides, the recording of audio anywhere in the middle of effects, the drag and drop of recorded audio and into the plugin itself, the way the waveform is rendered and shows mid and side information plus the tools it provides for editing audio, so I know it's a tool I'll use a lot if I'm able to get it. Maximus looks amazing too.

Thanks everyone!

I tried to register and there's no link I could find, sorry. It says you have to own some of their products (which I don't because the ones I'm interested are not available).

The word is/was that they were going to port everything to VST3. But there is no timeframe as to when that will happen. Bear in mind that they will also need to port all the plugins to the new Macs, so it's not a trivial undertaking.

That's amazing news if true! It gives me some hope at least. Thanks.

I read like 4 years ago in their forum that they will no longer sell their plugins as vst and they would focus on FL studio only so yeah....maximus is pretty dope but last usable version has the old linear phase and lacks of some features the FL's one has.

Post

I have/"love" Fruity Loops, but Edison is not "ergonomic". Before I made music, I mixed with the simple Wavelab 4 LE. Best editor ever, not even close to Edison.

Yeah but the advantage of Edison is that it is pretty much the only audio editor that comes (well came) as a plugin. I used to use it a lot but unfortunately IL stopped developing the plugin version and on Mac it no longer works. So I do hope they come out with a plugin version that works again on Mac.

Extremely simple but effective for one of your wishes: record and D&D anywhere (with some preferences built in)

It looks like Image-Line may have stopped allowing non-customers / demo users from registering for free Image-Line user accounts, to prevent them from bombarding the user forums and overloading their staff with too many queries. (they cite "30,000 people every day installing the FL Studio trial" as one of the reasons).

From reading the forum posts regarding ongoing VST support for Image-Line plugins, it seems that the developers have softened their stance over recent years, with regards to the possibility of supporting/selling these plugins again at some point in the future.

However, I also wouldn't get your hopes up too much, as I believe if they ever do decide to update and start selling them as VST(i)/CLAP, etc., that may still be several years away and rather a low priority for the company. Since, it seems to make far more business sense to focus on improving the DAW's core features and functionality, with view to attracting new customers away from other DAWs. And Image-Line's native plugins would also be viewed as an important draw to enticing newcomers to their DAW.

Looked at it and its nice! Would like some manual controls for playback/record and drag n drop into it as well as a more detailed waveform view, but the idea is getting there!

Totally get where you're coming from, I see what you mean about their plugins. In my case, I wouldn't switch to FL because of Edison and Maximus, but I would totally use them as part of my workflow. It looks I'm maybe in a small group of users which they lose.

Try it. The demo may be sufficient because IIRC it gives you 60 seconds before the usual noise burst ( quite hissing).

Check the option menu.

It might be worth remembering the FL Studo comes as a VST, so you *can* use the FL Studio native stuff in other hosts that way. In the case of Edison at least, not being able to save the projects without a full FL license shouldn't be a showstopper. I don't know if you'd be able to drag audio from FL Studio to your *other* host though, but it's easy enough to try it and answer that question. You can of course save files to disk from Edison as a workaround, but that might be a less than ideal workflow. Anyway, you might as well give it a try and see if that would potentially also work for you.

Tnx for reminder, did not install a while.

Did check now, some observation, mb helps for someone:
Latest forum' beta (2.2.50.86) crashed host after certain actions. Whereas account version (official release, 2242) no this issue.

(So mb the same for all rest IL's betas ?)

Win10 \ Studio One 6 at least.

Also would be interesting to see changelog for beta, but i not found it.
